GPSr shopping for the car.

So I gave my Magellan 6000T to my dad to use, and now i really miss having an in car GPS. So I am again looking for a car gps, to use daily and to route me close to cache locations. I liked the Magellan, but never got around to trying to get coordinates into it.

I don’t really care for any extra bells and whistles, I will never use a mp3 player, picture viewer, bluetooth to phone or any of that sort of stuff.

I would like something that is easy to get gps coords into, that doesnt take a phd in gsak :).

I’m lazy so lots of POI’s or Waypoints or whatever the brand uses is a plus.

I really liked the voice navigation stuff, but simple is ok with that, i don’t need it to pronounce street names, but take next left is nice.

Suggestions please, tell me what you love or hate about your in car gpsr.

I have both a Street Pilot 2720, and a Street Pilot 2610. I highly suggest either. I do like the 2720 better, as I can store more waypoints, and it also speaks the street name.

You can find them online Refurbished with the Full warranty for about 129.00 and that comes with all accessories, The latest maps, and a Remote Control.

You can also go with the Nuvi Line, such as the Nuvi 200. all good units. I don’t have any experience with the Magellan stuff, as most of my GPS’rs are Garmin.

We too are in the market for a vehicle navigation system and would really like some more ideas and reviews from those of you who have them. Any we should stay away from? We use both Garmin and Megellan so that is not an issue with us.

We do not need lots of bells and whistles but would like hotels, restaurants… the ability to update maps etc.

The more accessories that come with it that we don’t have to buy extra the better.

This is the one I bought, and the Company I bought it from. Can’t go wrong with this. When I bought Mine, it was 119.99, so looks like it went up 10 bucks.

We have a Garmin Nuvi 760 and we really like it. It does have a lot of features that we don’t use such as bluetooth, fm transmitter for traffic alets, picture viewer. It has lots of preloaded waypoints in it plus it is very easy to load coordinates into. We also use a macro to load our geocaches as points of interest and they show on the map screen.

Shelia is a 2610, but we’ll let it slide.. you know how those Cataracts, and such can hamper your vision.. Just wait, next he’ll be telling you shes a Blonde!!!

thanks for the info so far… Mr. TE has printed out several sheets of info on different machines to eventually make a decision. Any more hands on info is always appreciated.
