AstroD-Team finally committed to hosting another Great Northwoods Gathering at the YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya! It is confirmed for the weekend of February 24-26, 2006! Cost will be $25.00 per person for the entire weekend includes, caching, cabins and all camp equipment.

For those that did not attend last year, it was a GREAT WEEKEND of geocaching on Camp property (140 acres) with the comfort of heated cabins with fireplaces, and winter fun (sledding, skiing, ice skating, sauna, snowshoeing, and more) thrown in, as well as a group dinner on Saturday night and excursions to the nearby bar for some liquid refreshments.

The cache page with all the specifics cannot be posted until later in November. But we wanted to give a heads up on this event. Prepayment is required and the deadline for that payment will occur just after the holidays or when space is filled.

We hope to see you at the Second Annual Great Northwoods Gathering Geocaching Event Feb 24-26!!

The event has been approved and is listed here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b06cefbc-95a9-448f-8692-ca7facae2374

Are geopups allowed at the camp?

If you’re referring to dogs and other pets – no, they are not allowed. Sorry.

Camp Unie is about 60 miles north of Green Bay between Suring and Mountain WI.

If memory serves correct, the coords are:
    45 06.906 88 26.356

    Hope that helps!

Unfortunately, the last two weeks in February is the busiest time for those of us in the tax business. I’ll be there is spirit only.

We plan on being there… We had a great time last year. It was our first event ever.

The timing on this year’s event will be keeping us home. Our little microcacher will be arriving any day then. Tim’s already feeling like the hospital is pretty far away. Camp Unie seems like it’s way too far.

Although, it could make for some interesting stories…. “This one time, at geocaching camp….”

ROTFLOL! That WOULD be quite a story.
This is a possibility for us. We’re still fairly new to geocaching, but any reason to get away with the kids is good.

We, too, must decline…for the same reason as “What’s Next?”, but would say this….We really made lifetime friendships and had an unforgetable weekend last year at Camp Uni…if you are available, take the drive!

Pencil in the ecorangers. I’ll have Professor check his schedule when he gets home. Thanks for planning this event. This is a huge undertaking for you and we REALLY appreciate it. Tami

Count in all 4 ecorangers! Payment $100.00.

Please pencil me in as well. Someone has to be there to silence Russell and his “Go Garmin” routine.
