I’ve been asked to poll our community,

Did you visit the GNTH caches?
Did you enter the prize drawing?
Did you spend the night in the area?
Do you have any ideas for future GNTH’s?

    Thanks

    Yes,we did all of them.
Yes, we entered the prize drawing.
Yes, because we live here. We did have a few cachers visit our home and/or go out to a meal with us during the event.

We would like to see more prizes, even if that means lesser value to each one.

Trackable coins that are prizes (not activated).

TB prizes not just ones that are activated.

A special trackable coin minted to commemorate the event as a prize or for sale.

    Continue with the t-shirts.
Punch cards inside the caches in case someone did not have one or forgot theirs.

Make sure all the caches are linked from the geocaching site to the web page so anyone that looks for the cache realizes it’s part of the event. Maybe a consistent set of intials like GNTH in the cache name.

Yes, I did 16 of 18 caches. Didn’t do one water access cache.
    Yes, I entered the drawing.
Spent night(s) with my parents who live in the area.
Agree with TE’s re: special track able coin minted as prize,
    Continue with Tee-shirts,
Extra cards in caches (remember misplacing mine in the car at one cache and hunted and found it, phew)

EDUCATE the folks at the Chamber(s).

Ladies in Rhineland were perplexed when asked about this event. St. Germain were “excited” to hand out the tee-shirt, and Boulder–it was closed on Sat & Sun in May. With this thought, maybe some weekend hours for cachers visiting from outside the area so they can turn in cards and pickup their shirts–or an alternate business to assist.

    Yes I visited a few
No I did not enter the prize drawing.
    Yes, but at relatives.
    No.

    #1877532

    1. Yes, did all 18.

    2. Of course, was one of the lucky winners.

    3. Spent many nights at folks place and ate many meals in BJ & St. Germain. In fact, we used one of the deals on the punch card at a local BJ eatery and they were confused about the offer.

    4. Ditto what TE and notmuch had to say.

We really enjoyed the historical caches with photo’s and history.

How about inviting a few more COC’s (Eagle River, Woodruff, Minoqua) to participate?

For safety concerns, please don’t put a cache near the Hodag. Thanx

Agreed, the ones I did with the photo’s inside and a history lesson were the best.

Dont forget Manitowish Waters, Presque Isle, Winchester… Maybe even Mercer?

    Hi,

I thought it was a great event, though as TE mentioned the muggles putting it on did a few funny things. However, overall, I thought they did a great job.

    Yes I visited 11 of 18 caches.

No, I did not enter the prize drawing.

No, I did not stay in the area, but likely will next year.

Ideas for the future would be to echo the sentiments of TE, primarily for a trackable coin. I liked their easy to use punchcard. I liked the scenic areas chosen for the caches. I liked the easy one by the big map, and think that any series like this needs a good variety of long walks, and short stop and grabs, and their stop and grab by the big map was a great idea. I also liked that some of them were very long scenic walks, in great places.

BTW, for those interested, the Rice Lake tourism people are doing something similiar to this, this October.

    zuma

That would have been: St Germain Chamber Map by St. Germain (GC1102B).

Yah, it was pretty darn hard not to spot it, to this day I can spot it from the road.

I ended up with 12 of 18 caches..
I entered the drawing (and won)
I did spend the night in the area (with relatives). When I was caching, I stopped at some of the places on the cache card to support the area.

Suggestions?? I like the idea of a prize pyramid. Something like.. Find 18 of 18 and get geocoin for your own collection, or to trade (GNTH specific). Perhaps lessor prizes for not getting all 18 of 18 caches. I also like the idea of spreading this around the northwoods to other communities if possible.

    … Just my thoughts…

    #1877537

We did 2 of the caches.
No, we got up there too late to enter this year.
Yes, we camped 4 nights in the area.

Since I wasn’t involved in the prizes, I can’t comment much on them other to say that everyone else’s ideas here sound good.

I was impressed by the quality of the caching experience as a whole in the area – just wanted to say that.

Did you visit the GNTH caches?

    Yes, at least a dozen.

Did you enter the prize drawing?

No, forgot all about it on my desk, same with the Chippewa Valley event this year.

Did you spend the night in the area?

No, only about one and a half hours away, but did have a few meals on our two ventures to the area.

Do you have any ideas for future GNTH’s?

The variety and quality were quite good, and it’s a beautiful area for caching. Others will not agree maybe, but I didn’t see the excitement in being the first to log a travel bug related to the event. I like the idea of a geocoin offering quite a lot (imagine that 😉 ). Don’t neccessarily need another t-shirt, but they are a good affordable promotional item. All in all, it seems like it was a big success, and we look forward to curing some of our late-winter blahs with this again next year 😀 .
