After several attempts, I just created 2 accounts on Reserve America to book the 2 group sites for the campout. The system would only allow one group site reservation per profile ..
We have Site #301 and #303 now reserved.
Per Site limits: 20 people, 1 car
Our cost per site: $89.70 per
Reservations $179.40 expensesAuntieNae
03/06/2014 at 4:47 pm #1975062Should we set up a 3rd account?
“Campout at Mirror Lake State Park
Mother’s Day weekend. Shelter reservation has been made. Discussion about how many group sites we need? Rob will make the cache page. We are going to reserve sites 301, 302, 303 for the event and Renee will be reserving this. We will charge $10/tent/night. “Following the signals from space.
03/06/2014 at 11:19 pm #1975063I have a reserve america account, do you want me to book the third one?
Thanks for making the reservations Renee!

03/07/2014 at 11:12 am #1975064Thanks for making the reservations Renee, I thought we talked about 3?
03/07/2014 at 3:40 pm #1975065$10/night? Just FYI, we aren’t supposed to make a profit.
Per Site limits: 20 people, 1 car
Sounds like a clown act.
03/07/2014 at 4:52 pm #1975066I try not to agree with Brian 🙄 but if we are out $90 a night per site and each site can only have 20 people (is this right) figure a family of 4 in each tent = 5 tents = $50.
If each person brings a pup tent then we come out ahead.

03/08/2014 at 3:42 am #1975075There are a mix of families, singles and couples. Average per tent is usually closer to 2.
What I should have said is that the DNR frowns on re-selling the sites for a profit. We can cover our costs, but $10 X 30 tents X 2 nights = $600.
03/08/2014 at 3:45 am #1975076We were hoping to cover the costs of the shelter rental as well. But do we usually get 30 tents?

03/08/2014 at 1:07 pm #1975077Any overage beyond our cost and maybe firewood for the group sites could be donated to back to the park.
not sure if we can cover the cost of the shelter with the camping fees… seems that would be charging group campers for something all the attendees benefit from.

03/08/2014 at 6:08 pm #1975078Thirty is probably a good average. No way to “guess” how many will show up any given year.
Since this is a campout, doesn’t it make sense to encourage members to actually camp? Doubling the price from previous years doesn’t seem like a good way to do that.03/08/2014 at 7:03 pm #1975079Maybe we keep the fees as they are and if we end up short, then that’s the price of providing for our members. We’ll be selling merch all weekend anyway.
I really don’t know. I can see each way.

03/08/2014 at 8:13 pm #1975080I am doing some digging on what we have charged at past campouts.
2013: $10/tent/night
2012: $5/tent/night
2011: $10/family/night
2010: $4/adult/night
2009: $8/family/night
2008: $8/nightNot all who wander are lost. -J.R.R. Tolkien
03/11/2014 at 2:21 am #1975081Renee, do you want to make another account or Becca has offered to do the reservation for the 3rd site under her account.
Unless there is an objection form anyone, we’ll do as we planned at the BOD meeting and reserve 301,302 and 303 with Becca offering to reserve the 3rd site under her account. If you could get with her about payment, that would be nice. It would make things easier to pay with our card.

03/11/2014 at 2:58 am #1975082Becca shared her log in with me so I will reserve the 3rd
03/11/2014 at 2:59 am #1975083I am okay with the same rates as last year. We have been providing the firewood too
