Many of these questions center around who you are, but my question has to do with who you want to become as a board member. The BOD has given me an opportunity to grow my skills and learn new things, and I want to know what skills you want to develop through service on the board. Do you want to hone your social skills and mingle with more members? Do you want to take a deep breath and speak in front of a group? Maybe you want to adventure into the technology and coding of the website? What do hope to gain as a board member?

My posts should in no way be considered as the views or opinions of the WGA or its Board of Directors. All posts made under my name are my personal opinions only.

Yes, that’s me. I know your list probably wasn’t meant to be an exhaustive multiple choice, but I do think that’s the thing that most interests me. I’m already comfortable with many of the other aspects of being a leader in a social organization, but the website offers me a great opportunity for personal growth. I have always been a pretty technical person, and I make it a point to keep up with technology trends for fun. I have dabbled with websites in the past, but I’ve never had the opportunity to work on something that would be used by more than a handful of people. I am looking forward to the challenge of taking my existing knowledge base and growing it as necessary to improve the WGA website.

My comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.

I guess short and cop out answer is I always enjoy learning and growing. Which for one thing is important in my field of work. I’m always looking to learn and grow my skills and I’m sure they will grow in ways I wasn’t planning on being part of the board. Outside of already being familiar with the technical aspect of the WGA I think connections are what is important. Connections with businesses and the DNR, or with the members. I think at least from the outside there can be growth in both ways for both the WGA and myself.
