I have set a summer goal to clear a radius around my house and have created a GSAK file, loaded it, and printed a grid to help with my endeavors.
ANYWAY…is there a way to create a map from my file if I don’t have mapping software on my computer? (to help better visualize where they are and which could be done together)
06/11/2010 at 2:33 am #1930759Sweech – I can help you with generating a few maps if you’d like. PM me with the details and we’ll figure out the best way to do it.
Another option would be using Google Earth. I believe there’s a GSAK macro to dump the data to a kml (??) file that you can then import into Google Earth to print the maps.

I recently got a new laptop and haven’t reinstalled Google Earth, so I can’t test it unfortunately.
06/11/2010 at 2:59 am #1930761CodeJunkie: To skip Google Earth, you may also export the gpx file from GSAK, and bring it into Google Maps by: My Maps > Create New Map > Import the gpx file > Done
Here’s an example of some caches on Washington Island http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=102325126632251151345.000488b8479d80e97f49b
06/11/2010 at 3:01 am #1930762We have found this mapping macro useful. It uses Google Maps (street, satellite & terrain).

You’d think the guy (umm yeh me) that used this on the Alphabet Caches for Zobel park would have remembered this. π― π―

It was going to be 30, but 700 caches this summer leaves time for little else. Shooting for 20 miles and we’ll see from there. π
Thanks also to everyone for your help, now I have some things to look at and see what works best.

Please explain, sweech. What else IS there to do this summer (or any time) besides cache? π π
