After a 3 year hiatus TeamGarmin is back. (Last cache either of us attempted to find/hide was at the camp out up at High Cliff State Park). The nice thing about taking a 3 year break is that there are over 20 caches within walking distance from home.

I can remember the first cache I found. I had to travel over 15 miles to Franklin, WI “Oak Leaf Trail” (N 42° 53.634 W 087° 59.550). Ever since then I was hooked. I decided to share this cool hobby/sport with my best bud who I pressured into buying a GPS (Gamin of course). During shared periods of unemployment it wouldn’t be uncommon for us to go out for a day and knock out 10-15 caches. Back then we had to write down on a piece of paper the ones we found so we can log them later. Now with the advent of modern technology and help from a laptop, 2x 96WH Li-ion batteries, bluetooth, and a cellphone, caches can be logged on the spot in real time as we find them. This probably comes as no surprise. At the WGA camp out in 2003 at High Cliff State Park we caught some strange looks when we were clearly not roughing it. laptops, batteries, LP gas, stoves, grills, bikes.. yes it was noticed early that we may be a new technological breed of geocachers.

Today we sport a newer laptop, cellular ISDN Internet access, two way radios, maps, compass, and a little instinctive hunting and are planning on making a comeback by storm.

I just wanted to say hello for some of those who remember us from back in the early days of geocaching to the many new names that have gotten involved since.

    Blue skies and happy caching.

    Hey Guys, welcome back!

I wondered what happed to y’all. You were very active then disappeared. Glad to see that you’re getting back into the game.

Look forward to seeing your new logs 🙂

Welcome back! Nothing like seeing a couple of area cachers back in the game!

Welcome back. There has been alot of new hides in the Kenosha/Racine area as of late. You should have lots to hunt for. Hopefully we’ll meet on the trails someday and share stories.

Nick/Mark it’s good to see you back. 🙂

While you were gone (it has been quite a while), we archived all your records, so you have to start all over again. Unfortunately most of the caches you found are now archived as well. So to be reinstated, you must now seek out 100 caches with terraine ratings of 4.5 or above; find all of the Nemisis caches and host an event with an open bar. 😈

      — Just messin with you. It’s great to see you have rekindled that old spirit. 🙄

Nice to hear you’re back in action. One of the first caches I found was “Pike River Cache”, and it was one of the coolest caches I have done.

Forget the geocaching gizmos. What I remember about you guys is your cool Boy Scout-influenced, two-tub dishwashing system at group camp.

      Welcome back!
