For some reason, no one is going out to find this cache in the S Kettle Moraine. It is located at the site of the now-archived Stairway to Heaven cache. If you haven’t been to the Lone Bluff area of the KM, please use the cache as an excuse to go. This is a very nicely done multi with an “optional” add on hike to tour the area. Doing this one will give you a good workout climbing up to the lookout, along with the opportunity to hike in a beautiful area.

There are a few additional newer caches in the LaGrange/Whitewater Lakes area as well (ESCC, Its All in the View, Raise Your Ebenezer), along with many other old favorites (PITC, several traditional caches, an earthcache, etc). Just get in the car and go! You won’t regret it.

Or just wait until the picnic (August 19), and take the whole day to visit this and all the other great geocaches in the area!

    Had to do it!

I’ve done a majority of my few caches in the Kettle Morraine area. I would have to agree that the area is amazing. You must also check out the Pain in the Cache series. They may be hard, but they are a lot of fun. The Navigation part of the series took my gf and I a good part of the day, and I came out with a tick, but it was extremely satisfying. In addition, this series has proved to be a workout. These caches definitely have my recommendation.

One reason that people might not be finding the Hairway to Steven cache is because it is for premium members only. I’m not quite sure the reasoning behind making it a member only cache, but it has deterred me, a new geocacher, from attempting the cache. I would think that if someone wants to have an active cache, it has to be open to the public.

Anyway, if you are making it out to the southern area of Kettle Morraine, Add the Pain in the Cache series to your list
