While the cache of the month does help find some of the best caches in the state, the discussion on which are the hardest always seems to come up.
    Speaking for myself:
    1- Mr. Elvers Cache (Madison)
    2- Learning your ABC’s (Fontana)
    3- Training Camp (Madison)
4- Blue Mounds “O” (Blue Mounds)
5- On the Path of Runes (Delefield?)
    6- Know your Wirth (Brookfeild?)
    7- Tivoli Island (Watertown)
    8- Mini bushwhackers Delight (???)
9- Crossed between Two Towns (Elkhorn)
    10- Master It (Edgerton)

These have presented the greatest challenges to me. It would be fun to have a voting process for the hardest that would tally the votes to come up with a top ten. Perhaps you have already done this.

I think the all time most challenging was Scarabadae Gibbosum Deltae..whatever Delight. Along with that would be ”Gee..I’m a Tree”. Out of 400 some caches, those two take my top honors for being hard. I’ve made return trips to those several times before I logged a find.

Just a thought, steve, but how hard did you think The Entwives Tumor was. While I found it after just two visits compared to four for the Dung Beetle, I feel that one was a luckier find when I did find it.

I guess it depends on what your definition of “hard” is. To me, it’s about getting there. These are truly hard:
    River Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=1553
    Wy Not Wyalusing http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=6364
    Hixon Forest Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=19035

If you are referring to the most difficult to find, You Can’t be Serious is at the top of our list. If you are referring to the most physically demanding, then Pike Powder Hike and Stair-Master 2002 are the searches that drained us the most.

Mark, Entwive’s Tumor was one those caches that I call ”Kissing your sister”. I was with another group that ultimately found it before me. However, I did find the second stage first!

Regarding stairs, I think Stairway to Heaven was a hoot. It might be a draw with Pike Powder. I’m happy that I completed both without having a coronary!

Entwives Tumor was my first find ever, and it took me two days to find. And I wasn’t even the one to find it either, as WIRacer found it before me.

One of these weekends when I’m up in Manitowoc, I’m going to give “You Can’t Be Serious” a go.

Steve, thanks for mentioning “Gee, I’m a Tree”. I’ve always wondered if it was too difficult, but I guess It’s nice to have a good stumper around for those who want to give it a go. Fortunately it’s mine, so I don’t have to worry about finding it…

We would have to give our vote for hardest to find to You Can’t Be Serious in Manitowoc.

The most fun & hardest for me was the new one called farm fresh brown eggs. I took my daughter with me and we had the most fun and the wettest I have ever been. I am hoping to find more like this it was great

Hands down.. Devil’s Lake Revisited was a tough one.. hot, baking boulders.. 4 hrs of hunting in rattlesnake territory.. a climb that would take the breathe out of even a non-smoker (grins).. and a view that took your breathe away anyways..
