OK. Here’s a selfish place for ‘mini-vents’ with gc.com, which upon complaining through proper channels, might get resolved.
=======================================
Let’s start.Have you ever quickly replied to someone’s pm that you received via e-mail from/through gc.com, only to have it go straight to the ‘black hole’ at “[email protected]”, though you innocently thought you had sent it directly to them?
Or, similarly, you sent a request to a CO or another cacher, but they don’t have the @#$% desire or ability or time π³ to reply to you…..and then find out they did, but it was erroneously sent into the ‘black hole’? If only you’d seen and/or used that little box next to “I want to send my email address along with this message.”, thus allowing them to send a reply straight to your e-mail address, and by-passing the ‘black-hole scenario.’
But in some cases, you intentionally don’t click the box, in the interest of protecting your e-mail privacy, and/or the person who you expect a reply from does not want to go through the bother of digging into your profile page to make a reply – just seems there should be a simpler route to effective communication, NO?
Well, we say it’s time to stand up, go to the window, open it up, stick your neck out and shout, “Poop on you gc.com, we’re not going to take it any more!”
This route seems to have worked for us in the past, so………..We just submitted a “Feedback” item to GC on this topic, in the hopes some improvement can be made to address this apparent (to us) need. If you’re so inclined, please take a peek, cast a supporting vote, and/or add a comment. Thanks for your time!

05/25/2011 at 4:38 pm #1948435It has happened a few times but I think I caught on that the reply addy was “noreply” and after a quick grumble, I went to the persons profile page and sent from there. It would be nice if there was an email banner added to those emails to provide a link to the profile page or at least to let you know that directly replying will not reach the original sender.
will be interesting what GC can do.

05/25/2011 at 6:01 pm #1948436I think part of the confusion is how this feature really works. I know it took me a few messages to figure out that I could actually reply. It would be nice if there was a header attached indicating the users email was provided and doing a “reply” will send the message directly back to the user.

Maybe someone in IT can help you with a hack around that π
Later, if you have any trouble with the link, look for the feedback item: “Please provide a “cannot deliver, silly” message, when reply sent to [email protected]“
thanks

It’s now 651st on the official ‘Might Be Something Here To Do’ List, so it won’t be long now………….
Will provide an update when it moves to 650. π π
