Thanks for the welcomes…
I finally figured out what was confusing on the website issue…. I have waymarked a few places last year in Antigo and The Kovac Planetarium in Monoco as BlueSnowOwl and as a part of that process has an account there which apparently included registry at http://www.geocaching.com whether I wanted to at the time or not…. In any case, everytime I tried to sign in as WhiteEagle and got sent to their website links, it required me to sign back in under my previous username. So be it, I’m working with it as it’s their rules.
Look forward to getting better in this whole arena.11/04/2013 at 12:54 pm #1972959Glad you’re figuring things out!

10/20/2014 at 3:52 am #1972960Back again ….
Have been unable to pursue this hobby like I planned but hoping to get into it a little more ….
I’ve found 3 or 4 around Antigo that I looked for…
I purchased a Garmin Oregon 550t that I’m hopeful will be useful and more accurate than my iphone 4s – charging up the batteries as I type…
I just renewed myself on the website(s) … have forgotten how to get to the map of the local caches (which I remember having been in including a couple comments when I found them) .. Can someone PM me on how to find that list / map again…
After I get caught up with the ones around here, I need to review again what it takes to get one or more registered….Have what I believe would be three really good ones…..10/20/2014 at 3:50 pm #1972961Can cancel my request for guidance on finding the cache map… I found the pathway again on the main website and now remember how filing the log works .. and the directions to get a new cache registered…..
If one of the members here local to Antigo would have a few minutes some day, please PM me if you would be willing to spend a few minutes sharing your expertise on registering a cache….. I’ll buy the coffee or lunch if you would spend a few minutes…
10/20/2014 at 10:02 pm #1972962Hey WhiteEagle! I am too far away to meet your request (I live near Madison), but I am sure someone is willing to meet up with you.
10/21/2014 at 12:37 am #1972963Appreciate the thought and understand … Suspect that one of the members in area may take me up on breakfast, coffee or lunch sometime in near future and I can pick their mind on doing the process correctly.
I get down to De Forest frequently and go to all the Badger games as well but weekends usually are full while there with grandsons football and soccer games every weekend as well.
Different topic but you probably know.. Last year there was a cache at the De Forest Veterans Park.. believe it was Buoy, Oh Buoy so the clue was pretty clear… was going to swing in and take a try on that one but noticed this AM that it’s no longer mapped or listed… It no longer exists?
10/21/2014 at 2:48 am #1972964I did some searching, and it looks like “Boy oh Buoy” has in fact been archived. However, there are still a number of caches in Deforest. “It’s Been Posted” (GC5BGQA) seems to be receiving many good reviews as of late. There are also a couple of cemetery caches right around there too, which are some of my favorites.
10/22/2014 at 1:30 pm #1972965Did it….
Submitted registration request for a cache I hid……now in for review and approval ..
And in process of documenting two others for near future….11/13/2014 at 10:56 pm #1972966That’s great! I found your cache in the locomotive…great place for a hide. Did something happen to the one at the bp? You’ve picked out some excellent locations…hope you’re making them all winter-friendly. My brother tells me there’s quite a bit of snow around Antigo. :bartrod:

11/14/2014 at 2:36 am #1972967Good evening….
Actually, I’ve checked the “Oh Deer-and Albinos two” every two days and it’s still in original spot in good shape..
Antigo did have 8-10″ of snow but cache is fine and accessible if one doesn’t mind stepping in snow to walk up to it.
I noticed tracks there again yesterday within 6″ but not right up to it.
My Garmin 550t seems to be consistent + repeatable and three others found it in first week so thinking all’s well.I had expressed interest in meeting another local geocacher or two so I could pick their brain .. and discuss an idea I’m working on with a local organization…
Do you get over to Antigo often?11/14/2014 at 3:06 pm #1972968My brother and I just sold the family farm in Neva last week so, no, I probably won’t be getting over that way as much as I used to. I’m also housebound for a while now…recovering from hip surgery. Try contacting Huggybear2u…he’s got a number of caches around the Antigo area. I don’t know how often Sweetlife gets over that way but Barry and Val have more caching expertise than most cachers I know.

11/14/2014 at 4:28 pm #1972969OK Thanks….
Good luck with the hip surgery recovery… know a number of friends that had hip replacements and are happy with their results..
I’ll reach out to Huggybear2u about my idea for a local event. -
