All I use and have use is my smart phone, I have used several and each being an android device running C:Geo, there are a few other apps to include the geocaching.com one, but I prefer cgeo. There may be some debate on the accuracy, but with over 2000 finds I have had no issues. I have also run my phone along with people running high end handheld GPS’s and the only advantage they may have is when in heavy overhead cover it may have better accuracy.
If you’re going to be in remote no data coverage area, you can download a pocket query and use off line maps and save your logs till you get into a data area again.
I haven’t found a reason yet to buy one other than I would rather lose my GPS in a lake or river instead of my phone.
Hey Sarah, Tonya says you can cache with us. We’d love for an extra set of eyes. Maybe we can help you with a few puzzle caches like the one near yours and hers former work.
