Hey all- Although I have made a few posts, I have never taken the time to introduce myself. My geocaching handle is “Ostermi” (the username I use for just about everything else!) and I am from Stoughton, WI (AKA j&k&kids/ Smashing Ground country). I am still a relative newbie, with just over 430 finds at the time of this post. I have also hidden a few, including what seems to be a hit EC in Pewit’s Nest near Baraboo. Anyways, I look forward to all of the interesting discussions here on the WGA site, and possibly meeting some of you out on the trail 😀

What is a “newbie”, really? You have more finds than I do and I’ve been caching for 2 years now.

I just use the term in comparison to some of the cachers who have been on here for a long time (long being 8-10 years or so). I have been caching for about a year and a half, so it looks like we are roughly in the same boat. Anyways, thanks for the welcome. I hope to find at least one of your geocaches if I am ever in the Eau Claire area.
09/18/2014 at 2:36 am #1977273Hello and welcome to the WGA! I think I’ve seen your name around a time or two. I look forward to running into you at an event.

09/18/2014 at 2:46 am #1977274I noticed your EC at Pewit’s Nest SNA. I held an Event there last summer, since cache placements aren’t allowed. One of Wisconsin’s best kept secrets!
Looking forward to returning to that SNA for the fall colors.WELCOME! 😀

Thanks for the welcome. I wish I could go to the picnic on Saturday, but we already have tickets for the Badger game in Madison.
09/18/2014 at 3:46 am #1977276So if you are from Stoughton, you must be Norwegian, right? Welcome. My brother and sister-in-law live in Stoughton.
The views expressed here are that of myself only and do not necessarily represent that of the WGA board.
09/18/2014 at 9:53 am #1977277Great to “meet” you here Ostermi. It was back in 2009 when I joined this little group and then started lurking on the forums.
Learned a lot here, some even about geocaching. Please, drop in often and let’s get to know each other a little more.

Nope, not a lick of Norski in me! I am mostly German (I have “Haus” in my last name, so that one is pretty obvious :D) with a decent amount of Swiss. I do however enjoy the Syttende Mai festival here each May. For those of you who aren’t completely surrounded by Norwegians like I am, Syttende Mai is Norway’s Independence Day, and it is BIG in Stoughton. In fact, the only Syttende Mai bigger is in Oslo.
Anyways, thanks for the welcome. I am already thoroughly enjoying reading the forums on this site.
09/18/2014 at 11:20 pm #1977279Ostermi welcome to the WGA! As you’ve already discovered this is a happening place to share ideas and get info. Mention my name and your first year’s dues will be free! 8)

Im having a upcoming a Event in Madison on Jan 8th so hope to see ya there instead of on the side of my house swapping trackables 😉01/19/2015 at 8:55 am #2033736Hi All,
Stoughton Cachers- planning a meet and greet in early March. Want to be involved in the planning? If so, please contact me soon. May be a good time to place a cache if you are pondering one. 🙂 Hope to hear from you!
