02/18/2009 at 5:30 am #1902471Ask Lostby7 about transferring the ec to you via the adoption process.
02/18/2009 at 10:33 am #1902472Sometimes a listing can get approved right away sometimes it takes weeks…and weeks. I think if it’s published in HTML it *might* get approved faster because it may be easier for them to read….?
In any case once the listing is approved the EarthCache folks will adopt it out to you; you will get an email asking if you will accept the listing. The only one who should own the listing is you and “Geoaware” (the reviewer). Geoaware is the one who you need to adopt the listing from.
So are you saying someone other than you and Geoaware now owns the listing you wrote up?
Is this the listing: GC1MTXP
If so then campwebb12 will need to adopt the cache out to you by following the link below:

02/18/2009 at 4:54 pm #1902474So someone else wrote up a listing for the same feature? Or do they actually have the one YOU wrote?
I know it does happen where two parties are working on the same feature at the same time. I have run in to this first hand with AuntieNae; we were both working on the same feature up north. She was very gracious to allow me to publish the listing and was very helpful to me by providing additional information as well.
I try to let other EC developers know when I’m working on an EC in their neck of the woods so that this does not happen but…it still will be bound to occur from time to time.
02/18/2009 at 5:14 pm #1902475Dean, Did you have a contact person’s permission and contact info from the LaCrosse Park Department? A permission contact is a must for EarthCache listings or they won’t approve them. Could that be what happened? The reviewers do check with the listed contacts to be sure they actually were asked.
Sometimes the permissions get really complicated and create confusion. For those I did in the Kickapoo Reserve, I needed to have permission from the DNR, the Reserve manager and the HoChunk, as the land is held in trust with them. That’s how I know the reviewers check with the land managers. 😉 I’d missed one step in the process. I am guessing the Granddad’s one would just be LaCrosse Parks, though.

Tell me about it. I’m dealing with a situation with two parties at the moment and both are saying I need permission from the other party….so even though they both would approve the listing they need me to get permission from the other party first…..since there can’t be two parties giving me permission first…I seem to be stuck in a holding pattern at the moment….permissions are a very convoluted thing.
02/19/2009 at 2:31 am #1902477I stopped down to city hall and talked to the main supperviser for the parks he said it was great and go ahead and list this cache I guess next time I get written permisssion not just verble but Ill remember this all on the next EC cache I plant because I have many Ideas
