Yeah –your HotWheels cache was archived. I actually spoke with one of the big wigs at Groundspeak about the exact procedure that I needed to follow for your cache. He directly told me to archive your cache, cite the commerical guideline and have you send an email to appeals. I was just following orders.

I know — archiving seems so permanent. But I wasn’t doing it as a crabby, nasty thing. Just doing what I was told to do.

When a business or something commercial like that is mentioned briefly in a cache page, I usually disable and ask for changes to be made. Your particular cache has a few extra bells and whistles to it — and frankly I really liked it and didn’t want you to make any changes — hence my direction to groundspeak for a (cross your fingers) exception.

    Bec,

please don’t think that I hold this against you in any way. You are doing EXACTLY what you should be doing, and that is, following Groundspeaks guidelines. I received an e-mail from them this morning which I will post shortly.

Thank you for doing this thankless job. Oh wait, I just thanked you. 😉 😆

….or list it as a non-Groundspeak cache and avoid all this silliness.

Since the WGA site is only quick-linked to GC…and since all the help, info, and other stuff here relates to GC…does it really pay to keep pimping other sites out there that have nothing to do with GC?

    YOUR OPINION, NOT MINE!!!

Let’s say I place a box in the woods, put a notebook, a pencil and throw in some McToys for tradiing in the box. Then I record the coordinates on my GPSr. I find a webiste that lists the coordinates of such objects, and post it.

    WHAT HAVE I JUST CREATED?!?!?!?

Answer: A cache published on a site that’s not linked to anywhere within the WGA site…”GC” means “gc.com” in above post…yes, I realize the WGA and gc.com are not the same thing.

“We allow the advertising on the pages”

I dont get it. What is that supposed to mean?

It means that Groundspeak allows companies advertising space on cache pages for a price. We however are not allowed any advertising. Charge or no charge. Not even for charity.

But, not completely. The option is there to present your case to Groundspeak directly. They will review it and decide.

GC.com may be the best game in town, but I am starting to see Roheffs point about alternatives.
