On the heels of my annoyance with snow, here’s another one:
I again tried to find The Hidden Pyraminds….cache in Lake Mills. I go the clue this time, and knew that I was in the right place. My GPS led me right back to the same spot, and I looked and looked in every possible spot. But I can’t find the cache!! It shouldn’t be so hard.
Does anyone who has done this one have any further suggestions for me? Or is anyone near enough to go take a look and tell me it is still there (or not.) I contacted the hider (I think it’s someone in Illinois?) but haven’t heard back yet.
I won’t give up on this one until I find it, or until someone tells me it isn’t there. I think I just need a little help.
Thanks in advance!

We found it during summer months, tree cover may have been the cause. You might want to wait untill the snow has cleared before you really put your nose to the ground on this. It may be buried. ~tb
02/04/2004 at 9:01 pm #1739725I remember many fallen logs in the vicinity, so there were many possibilities. Recall it was snugged in tight against log, nicely covered with sheets of bark. Wish I remembered which side of the trail it was on.
Last cache I found was 4′ up a tree, now THATS a winter friendly cache!02/05/2004 at 12:34 am #1739726It truly is funny how long you can remember individual caches – if they are good! I found this on 8/11/2002 and recollect that you should be looking at the larger end of a downed tree.

02/05/2004 at 1:20 am #1739727I checked my notes on this one since I was the last to find it on January 3. The container is a rectangular metal box (HighWayKind’s March 29,2003 log says it is a French military first aid kit box) and I believe it was under a log, but I’m not sure about that. I really only remember this one because I thought the box was interesting.
02/05/2004 at 11:01 pm #1739728Thanks for the help peoples! I still think I was in the right area, but perhaps the weather conditions were not getting me to the cache. I about crawled into the log to find it, but I hadn’t checked along it’s sides. I do recall lots of loose bark. But I think I will wait for better weather to try again. Again, thanks for the help!

(who wants to take bets that I’m going to try to find it again this weekend?)
03/01/2004 at 2:02 am #1739729Today — my fourth time — I went back to the cache location, and almost immediately found the cache! It was right where many of you said it would be. The earlier snow cover was just too much for me to be successful.
I feel so much better
(now, my newest nemeses — Hiking Boots and 94th on 94.)
Thanks everyone for their help!
