One of our planned CITO events is in need of participants.
The HWY 10 WGA sponsored Adopt-a-Highway section is scheduled for a CITO event on April 17 starting at 10amcache page description:
Please Join us in Helping to cleanup The Section of US HWY 10 that the WGA Has adopted. Our section Extends from Hickory Hills Rd. on the West to CTH W, on the west. This section is aproximately 2 miles. We will be responsible for cleaning both sides of the Highway.
Plastic Trash Bags, and Orange Vests will be provided. If you would like Gloves, or Pick-up sticks, You will need to provide them. We will be starting this event at 10:00am, and depending on the number of folks involved, we will be done by approximately Noon.
Parking is at a Premium, so if you have the option of car-pooling, that would be great. The only parking that is available is Road Side. Please join the WGA In helping to clean up our playing field.
please post your “will attend”s on the cache page so we have a count of those who will be there.

04/13/2010 at 3:52 am #1927400call me what you like, just don’t call me late for dinner.
okay, so now who can help out on this?
It’s not a glorious job but it is something that helps the environment and shows support for our organization.

04/13/2010 at 4:18 am #1927401Ah, Yes, I was reading Shane’s Post, and typing on this one! Time to stop multitasking!!! Sorry Pete!
04/13/2010 at 3:31 pm #1927402I’d love to be a part of the CITO, but unfortunately it’s my weekend to work. I do want to get to at least one of the other ones coming up though.
04/13/2010 at 4:01 pm #1927403Well, no more will attends but 3 additional watchers since the cry went out……
If you are able, please try to make this successful. It is only a couple hours of time and I am sure there are caches nearby for before and after.
My plea for someone to work for me was denied. 😥Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
04/13/2010 at 4:25 pm #1927404Sorry, I am going to the “Beach” instead.
04/13/2010 at 6:13 pm #1927405Being that this is the same day as the Harrington Beach ( GC25114 ) CITO, which I’m coordinating for the WGA … I’d like to openly invite people that might be “sitting on the fence” as to which to attend to jump off the fence and into Hwy 10 😛
While I don’t want to turn anyone away at Harrington, I am pleasantly surprised with the sign up thus far. Looks like we’re already at about 35 people at Harrington, which is more than I would have dreamed. While I’m working with the Ranger on plans to keep those attending busy, the park is not that big (since the campground area has already been cleaned up).
Again if you want to come to Harrington and havn’t signed up yet, I’m not turning you away … please don’t get that impression. I’m just saying you won’t hurt Mr. Harrington’s feelings or mine, if you clean the Highway instead.
(oops … link above has been correct)

04/13/2010 at 10:54 pm #1927407Keep in mind, folks, we are trying to get on the good side of the DOT and show them how great geocachers are. Then, just maybe, we’ll make some good headway on our geocaching in Rest Areas hope. A good turn out could really help. Think of it as a marketing tool.

04/14/2010 at 1:18 am #1927408Stubbs13 and I are going to try and make it there. Maybe we can even convince little sis to help. I can’t commit to anything yet though.
04/14/2010 at 3:02 am #1927409I don’t know if it is true of most of school districts, but many around here require some community service hours. If any of you have children that have hours to earn, maybe this would be a good opportunity to consider. And it is also a good way to help even younger children learn about the importance of keeping our environment clean.
04/14/2010 at 5:34 am #1927410Yeah, add me to the unlucky who will be working… That does mean I can make the Appleton CITO though. While picking up trash will never bring fame or glory, our membership should keep in mind that these are the kind of community outreach efforts that people have wanted organized. You can’t present a good image if you don’t attend.
04/14/2010 at 2:23 pm #1927411Still not 100%, but it’s looking very likely that I’ll be there.
