Hi from Milwaukee. I bought a DeLorme PN-20 over a year ago with the intent to learn how to use it for Geo-caching. Have no clue how to use 😕 and maybe someone would like to get together to give me some pointers and help find my first local cache to see what this ‘treasure hunt” is all about. There are quite a few local caches within 5 miles of me to start in the 53210 zip code area.

Wish I could help you, but it’s a long way to Milwaukee and I’m not familiar with that receiver.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Welcome to the WGA and don’t give up hope on someone to help you with your PN-20. There are lots of folks from all schools of GPSrs and I am sure someone is familiar with this one.

if you’re going to be near west bend this weekend, I’m sure there will be someone at Regner Park that will know how (or be willing to help figure out) to use that device.

We will be in West Bend this weekend and have used Delorme GPS since they came out. If you are coming we could meet you some time. We are from the Fond du Lac area and it is a very busy time so it would be hard to plan a trip to your area. If you are interested in coming up this way we could help you out. Let us know.

Thanks GeoBill. Maybe I can plan a trip to Fond du Lac. It’s only about an hour from me.

We own a PN40 and a PN60. Not sure how much different the pN20 will be, but we can try to help somehow. We are in Waukesha!!

I initially started out on a jog while camping. Stopped for a breather and took out my phone… well, time kind of got away from me, and I started trying to find things to do with a smartphone in the middle of nowhere. The GPS feature on the phone wasn’t nearly reliable enough to get me to a cache, but it got me interested! I’m hoping they’ll make a solid app soon so I don’t have to shell out the cash for new hardware.

(Why do I feel I am helping hijack a post?) 😳
What flavor of smartphone do you have? I know my myTouch 3G Slide (Android) gets me right on top of the caches even in dense cover, but my new flashy Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S (android) seems to forget where I am about every 5 minutes requiring a reboot. I also tried Windows Mobile on my HD2 and the gps was ok.

Android: C:Geo (Free, as in free beer, from marketplace) slower but free
Geocaching.com App (not free $10) fast as lightning
