Help w/camping check list.

I have not camped for. . . well since the last century.

I will be camping at the WGA event and would like to do a sanity check with experienced people that tent camp in state parks. I have a tent, sleeping bag, pad for bag and pillow. I also have the normal items that we take into the woods when caching, ie. bug spray. I have my meal for Sat. morning.

Question is that what camping specific items am I missing? I will be in one of the group sites.

Camp chairs and a screened tent or a tarp to hang over your table just in case it rains.

Hammer for stakes and lines.
Camp light/lantern, flashlight.
Toothbrush, jammies, teddy bear.

Got a rubber mallet. Tent has lines and stakes (new tent)
Flashlight is a given as I do a lot of night caching. Also good for those pesky pine tree caches. Was thinking about a camp light. Toothbrush AND PASTE already in the bag. Jammies are optional. 🙂 NOT. Do not want to scare anyone.

I also have a camp chair. Not concerned with any table issues, as I will not be around there that much. I am on the committee, so I will be up there some time and I am by myself.

I was wondering what is the best method to keep bugs from crawling into the tent. ie. ants and ticks

Keep the screen door on the tent zipped tight. If the critters come in with you, squish them or throw them outside. If you don’t have a screen door on your tent, I can’t help you with that one.

It does have a screen door. It is an Igloo pop-up. I was thinking that I could spray in front of the door with Deep Woods Off.

Spray listerine on the outside of your tent. That prevents bugs from entering.

Also, keep any food in your vechicle… prevents critters from entering your campsight, esp at night! And keep food outside your tent! Or there will be a good chance for late night encounters from furry things.

The pig man is bring my food. Not sure what to bring for the lunch pot-luck. Sat. breakfast is an “MRE”. 😆

Only 2 meals that I need to bring.

I use Listering, not bug spray on the outside of my tent for bug control. No leakage even in the hard rainstorm. Knock on nylon!

Sounds like interesting solution to prevents pests. I would not want to spray myself with it though. 😆

I wouldn’t spray myself with it either unless if you want to smell all minty fresh.

Towel and soap. Camera…. Hot pads if cooking over fire. Paper towels, eating utensils, foil…. Matches or lighter…
