05/27/2012 at 1:36 am #1961442Don’t forget the stove, oven, microwave, and big screen tv! J/K!
To be serious, packing less gear is better. Some items that can be omitted includes: axe/saw – if the wood is too big that you cannot break with your hands, then it’s too big to burn in a personal campsight. Coleman Stove- try using backpack stoves. Soap(s)- get biodegradable soaps- From Sea to Summit makes the best that is out there. Gander Mountain carries them. For food, repackage it before you leave for camp, you will have half the garbage that you would have had normally. One trick that I do for camping is to bring a screen (7′ by 3′) and I put it under my cooking/eating area. That will collect all “micro litter” that slips between the cracks which in turn doesn’t allow for our furry friends to become dependant on human food…
If you want to know more, http://www.lnt.org has a world of knowledge…

I can fit all of that in my fanny pack (which wasn’t on the list by the way). 8)

Not knowing whether John or Kim posted this I will refrain from the “must be a big fanny” jokes – just saying.
05/31/2012 at 1:07 pm #1961446This be of use to you, and to others under different adventure-planning situations. It is menu driven. It was developed by a Scout Leader……..think there might be one or two around here. (Maybe they can help improve the site by adding ‘geocaching’ as an activity 😉 )
