Help with my Garmin-There’s a free meal in it for you!!

I just bought a Garmin 60Cx yesterday, and being new to the hobby/addiction, I’m still kind of unsure how to set it up for caching. I’m wondering if someone would be willing to come to my home and help me set it up and how to download co-ords from http://www.geocaching.com

I live in the Hartford area, in Washington County. I’ll be home on Saturday (5-10-08), and would really appreciate some help getting started. For your trouble, I’d be happy to buy you either lunch or dinner (depending on when we’d be finished with “school”) at The Mineshaft in downtown Hartford. For those of you who’ve never been there, it’s a very nice bar/restaurant with many different types of food, including American, Italian, Mexican dishes, so take your pick…your meal’s on me.

You can contact me through this thread, or PM me if you prefer. You should know that I work 2nd shift, so if you reply later today I may not get the message until after 11PM tonight, so I’d be contacting you tomorrow to set something up.

I know this seems like a bit of an extreme request, but I’ve been messing with my GPS and I’m just not sure if I’m doing things right, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you ever get a response to help with your Garmin? I’m thinking that if you didn’t get any offers it’s because people are uncertain about meeting a stranger in their home. No offense. I’d be willing to help you out if we can work out a time and place. I could bring my laptop computer along.

No I did not get a reply. Your ears must’ve been ringing because I was just thinking that I might put a thread out there requesting to go caching with someone so that they could show me the ropes.

What are your plans for this weekend? I may have plans for Saturday…I’ll know for sure by Wednesday night. If my plans fall through I might be available on Saturday, but Sunday would be even more flexible. We could still meet at the Mineshaft if you feel more comfortable meeting in a public place.

Give it some thought and reply back to me. We’ll have to keep an eye on the weather as well. I may not want to head out if it’s going to be raining all weekend.

I’ll be at the WGA campout this weekend so I can’t meet with you in Hartford. If you would like to come over to Gov. Dodge State Park this weekend, you’d find dozens of friendly geocachers willing to show you the ropes!

I’d love to, but my tentative plans are forcing me to stay closer to home. Perhaps we can plan it for the weekend after. I’ll keep in touch and maybe PM you after this coming weekend. In any event, thanks for offering.
