Hey gang, my enthusiasm for this new endeavor got the best of me and my family decided to start off with Jeff’s most excellent “Ritual of the Wizard’s Tower” cache.
We passed the first 6 tests to get to the tower without much difficulty and with much enjoyment, reinforcing the thought that this would be a fun new family activity. Then we ran into a wall…
I’ve tried “dead reckoning” and also “waypoint offsets” to get from the tower to the “evidence of Guardians of Nature”. We’ve tried several lines of thinking about the eoGoN including:
– plaque on rock identifying the original farm owner as a friend of the environment who planted many trees on the property
– trash cans
– grease recycling storage bin
– fire hydrants
– we’ve also looked for a sign that would tell us who maintains the prairie (LPSD?) but haven’t found one
None of the above have resulted in finding coordinates for the final cache.
Having spent a good chunk of 3 afternoons enjoying the wonderful setting and clever tests, we now find ourselves at wits end and screaming “HELP, PLEASE”! Are we thinking about this thing wrong? Am I doing something wrong with my GPSr? Did I just plain pick too difficult a cache to start with?
I’m somewhat tempted to put this one on a shelf and do several “easier” caches to build confidence before returning. I’m also determined that we should be able to work through this thing. I also want my wife and kids (OK, me too
to see some results for the effort we’ve put into this one.
Advice or hints can be sent to [email protected] if you don’t want to post them here for the world to see…

From appearances, you’re close.

One more question…is there too much information in my original request for help? Should I edit some of it out so as not to give anything away?
Thanks,
