I’m looking for trails or parks that have alot of caches in them. I have a vacation coming up and em looking to really rack up some cahces. Thank you!
05/28/2010 at 7:43 pm #1929815You are looking for trails in Wisconsin, I presume?
05/28/2010 at 7:45 pm #1929816I see you’ve already found Sparky007’s Sandy Creek series. That would have been my recommendation. There are at least 15 caches there all within walking distance.
One of these days I’m going to go out by Black River Falls.
I was browsing the map, when this jumped out at me. A big cluster of caches in a small area. In the shape of a smiley face. Some time in June I’d like to go out there (if anyone wants to join me)Heres one of those caches if you need help finding the area: GC1HCM6
05/28/2010 at 7:58 pm #1929817Just north of Kewauskum is Kettle Morrain, there is great camping sites at different locations, I have camped at Mauthe lake and both me and the kids loved it… here is a cache in the middle of the park for reference: GCNWB1 this is also not to far from West Bend which has a TON of caches
Then, there is Lannon Quarry which has camping just a few miles out of the Milwaukee area, it is a beautiful campground with much to offer, if you bike you can really rack up the caches by doing the “states” caches by Dr. Dolittle, here is a cache for reference that is in the park GCYC1X This park is just west of Menomonee Falls with also has a TON of caches, I highly recommend the Peanuts series for a nice variety of cache types and difficulties.
I am sure there are MANY more areas that are great… these are just 2 that I know of… have lots of fun!!!
(both campgrounds are kid friendly with play centers, swimming areas, shelters, and concessions with stores close enough by to pick up the things you forget… oh, and toilets are avail. too 🙂 )05/29/2010 at 1:45 am #1929818BTW – I’ve heard of the bugline series near Milwaukee with a high concentration, but I have no idea where it is. Can someone post a cache in the area to help me out.

Thanks. I had no idea this was the trail. I was just down at Lannon Quarry a month ago for a Lonely cache run, but didn’t look at anything else in the area.
05/29/2010 at 3:16 am #1929821If you are up for a day of hiking and want to get a whole bunch of caches on one trail, Ed’s Lake near Wabeno has 11 caches on one trail and it can be done in about 2 hours. I went there on Halloween with Sweetlife and we had a blast finding them all. Recommend to do in fall and spring as the park will be thick with skeeters and ticks in the summer.
Start of the trail is at GC1X5D0 and go from there. $5 fee to use the trail though certain passes are also accepted.
Below are my smileys. As you can see, it is practically a circle around the trail.
Edit: Since I visited there, 4 new caches have been placed that I did not get. They are not on this outdated map.

Check my profile. Several of my hides have the word Bugline in them. I have about 30 hides on or near the Bugline. There are about 85 caches on the Bugline or within .2 of it. The trail is gravel packed and 14 miles long.

The Coon Fork park area is a good day or two worth, camping right in the middle, trails are easy walks and its quiet out there! Well worth the travel and time just for those in the park and immediate area surrounding, expanding out a little further has some great hides as well, could easily setup base camp for a couple of days.

oopsss. sorry, ment to do an edit not a quote 🙂 (I just added that the Bugline trail with all the caches on it went through Lannon Quarry)

A great trail which has 28 of the state caches on plus a whole lot of others. We also did the State Drumlin trail in the Waukesha area which had the other 22 states and D.C. on and a couple of other caches. Check out the Woodville Trail which is up past Eau Claire (northwest) toward Minneapolis. There are a bunch of caches on that trail. We have not yet done those. We enjoyed the Bugline and the state trail also. We were over in Jackson County Forest earlier this month, which is close to Black River Falls (see earlier post on smiley group of caches). We did about half of those and loved them. It is a rugged area and were were up and down some pretty steep hills and did a lot of bushwacking, but it was a blast. You definitely work for each cache. The Wiouwash (hope I spelled that right) Trail (from Hortonville to Oshkosh) also has a lot of good quality caches on. We have done those and enjoyed them immensely. A few suggestions for you!
