Was kbraband ever a Wisconsin cache reviewer? I know he is for Iowa, but was curious as to whether he also was ever a Wisconsin cache reviewer. Inquiring minds want to know…

The other past/present reviewers that I’m aware of are

      WGA/Grouse Tales
      WGA2/Should’ve bought him the tie
      WGA3/Bec
      Cheese Wis
      Wis Kid

      Any others I’ve missed?

AFAIK, Ken was not a volunteer reviewer for Wisconsin.
You could send him a PM to find out for sure.

It’s crazy that there have been so few. My hats off to them for hanging in there.

Actually, I believe Ken was WGA2 for a short while.

I believe jthorson was also a reviewer? I didn’t know about CheeseWis, I guess I need to update my Homage to the Reviewers cache.

Please note: my comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.

The CheezWis id was held by jthorsen.

Yes I was WGA2 and reviewed for Wisconsin for about a year before changing my reviewer handle to IowaAdmin and being the primary reviewer for Iowa for the next 10 years. I retired as a reviewer in the fall of 2013 after publishing more than 26,000 geocaches. I wrote about it here: http://iowaadmin.blogspot.com/

This is good information, and i think there should be a section on the WGA website for WGA History.  In Brian Williams words, the past gets kind of “foggy” to even us who have lived through it.  During my years on the BOD, I did try to get a WGA Historian position in place.  I think I even had Ken Braband agree to being the historian for a time.  Anyway as our older geocachers slowly fade away, it would be nice to have it written down somewhere.  Bonnie and I are getting ready for a move from Wisconsin to Arkansas to our retirement home in June this year, and I’ve been going through many old campout brochures and maps that I’ve saved.  Don’t know if they are saved elsewhere, but I’ve tossed many, as Bonnie says I can’t keep “all that stuff”.  We began caching in 2002, and have attended every campout since.  This year’s at High Cliff may be the last in our unbroken series for a while.  We plan on doing campground hosting in differnt areas of the US in the coming summers.

Something for the new BOD to think about.

I like the idea of a “History of Geocaching in Wisconsin” historian.  Anyone want to volunteer for this job?

Much of the history of the WGA is in written form in a series of 7 “historical” caches, entitled “Meet the WGA.”  They’re listed on the bookmark link at http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=4fe59f49-7dbb-4e21-9a5c-c8d69bcc269b

The seven caches, located just west of Milwaukee in Waukesha County, include the following topics:

Meet the WGA #1: Statewide Annual Events GC4NBQ3

Meet the WGA #2: WGA Campouts GC4NBQT

Meet the WGA #3: The BOD GC4NBQK

Meet the WGA #4: The WGA State Park Series  GC4NBQ8

Meet the WGA #5: WGA Committees  GC4NBQA

Meet the WGA #6: WGA Picnics  GC4NBQG

Meet the WGA #7: All Together Now  GC4NBQC

The series won the series of the month award a while back.  It’s updated regularly with the newest WGA information.

But if you go looking for the caches make sure you watch out for the park service painting the shelter!  😉

I think the paint has dried now.  Hopefully you no longer have that paint on your hands.  And arms.  And shirt. 😉
