We have had 3 Magellan’s thus far. My Meridian gold only lasted me about 70 caches before it DIED as in DEAD. We quickly sent for a Magellan 300 because after all, the weekend was fast approaching and it was an emergency situation. Can’t cache without a gizzy. Soon after, we got a letter from Magellan offering to exchange our dead machine for a brand new 500 (plus a few dollars on our part.) Add to that the fun of caching with someone who had a really nice Garmin that is not fluctuated by cloud or canopy cover and I can quite emphatically say that we have learned that even though the specs may all say the same thing in regards to accuracy, 100% of the time the more expensive machines got us to the cache far more quickly and accurately. So, since the M300 also only lasted about 8 months before dying, our next purchase is going to be some really expensive Garmins. Hopefully we will get a much longer life out of them, too.
