How long have you been geocaching and how long have you been a WGA member?
How many WGA events have you attended and what were they? If they are over handful, please just share your last few.

01/15/2018 at 5:32 pm #2057391I found my first cache in 2006 but really didn’t become an active cacher until 2008. Not sure when I became a WGA member but I attended my first WGA event (2009 WGA Geo -Picnic) in 2009. Since then I have attended many events (actually I don’t miss many!!) but most recently was the 2017 Fall Geo-Picnic, 2017 WGA These Are The Pancakes You’re Looking For, 2017 WGA Spring Not So Pleine Pancake Breakfast, 2017 Spring Campout and 8th Annual Chili and Hot Dog Feed.

I started geocaching in July of 2013 and became a WGA member the same year I believe (in the winter). When trying to become a member, I remember having to verify I wasn’t a robot trying to gain access to the site and thought it was the weirdest process ever. I kept getting emails from someone and sent back replies. And then I started laughing. At that time, I knew this is where I belonged. An organization that was like-minded in my thoughts and interests in geocaching.

I have attended a lot of WGA events and just like Lois: 2017 Fall Geo-Picnic, 2017 WGA These Are The Pancakes You’re Looking For, 2017 WGA Spring Not So Pleine Pancake Breakfast, 2017 Spring Campout, and 8th Annual Chili & Hot Dog Feed.
I have also been to all of the WGA GIFF Events since Groundspeak released them to all of the geocaching community.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

01/15/2018 at 8:47 pm #2057400I have been geocaching since May 2015 and a WGA member since mid 2017. I have just attended one WGA event; the 2017 WGA Fall Geo Picnic
01/15/2018 at 9:06 pm #2057403I have been geocaching since Nov. 2009 and joined the WGA shortly thereafter. I have been to many WGA events. The most recent have been: 2017 WGA These Are The Pancakes You’re Looking For, 2017 WGA Spring Not So Pleine Pancake Breakfast, 2017 Spring Campout, and 8th Annual Chili & Hot Dog Feed. I also helped organize the 2015 WGA Lonely Cache Game Event: Mead Just for You.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
01/15/2018 at 9:10 pm #2057404I officially started caching back in 2010, my wife Kathy (Mrs. Ham Fam) and our daughter were at a science fair in Green Bay. As we were moving from table to table checking out all the cool stuff, we came across, someone’s table that was all about geocaching. They had a Google map printout showing all the caches that were around, it was pretty cool. So we grabbed a map, and a few weeks later we were on the hunt. Unfortunately, we never found the first handful of caches, later we found out there were missing. That coupled with the automotive GPS, that we were trying to cache with, left a lot to be desired. Fast forward a few years, we finally got a handheld GPS, and then we started finding more caches. Although we only found like 6 in the first 2-3 years, we started finding more. And we still enjoy finding caches today.
I’ve been to a couple of Cache Ba$hes, last year and the year before. This past year, we upgraded our pop-up camper and made it to our first WGA spring campout, we also made it to the Fall picnic. A few years back I and Pixiestix13, hosted the WGA LCG event at Bubolz Nature Preserve. I always enjoy catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

01/17/2018 at 11:42 am #2057455I found my first cache when I was a kid and my dad introduced me to it. I rediscovered it in college when a friend was all excited about it. I said I knew about it. Low and behold we went caching during our lunch. That was spring 2013. My found number is only at 659 but I have found some crazy unique caches and loved everyone of them
I have attend a few of the WGA Lonely Cache Game events. Last spring was the first time I was able to attend the Spring Camp Out at Eau Plaine County Park and also the Pancake Breakfest. Which was a complete blast meeting people from around the state and a few outside.
My favorite cache or series to date is still the Montreal Mine series outside of Hurley. I loved that driving by you never would know the old mining structures exist. It was so fun!
01/23/2018 at 10:21 am #2057572I have been a gc member since: 02/18/2009, and sometime in 2009 I found the WGA. I have at this time attended 75 events. I didn’t sort through to see how many were WGA sponsored, but most of them were run by WGA members at some point. My first event was the Waukesha Winter Jamboree and I have seen how time has changed temp caches to permanent caching.
