We have tried a variety of ways to conduct the raffle, and each has their own pros and cons. For the picnic, we are going to raffle off a lot of good stuff, cache containers, coins, gas cards, etc. Brian has already posted a list of the coins to be raffled off, and Gwyn will soon post a description of the great stuff she has to be raffled off.

Here is how the raffle will work:

Raffle tickets will be awarded as follows:

      • 1 ticket per individual (given at registration)
      • 1 ticket for 10 temp cache finds (per booklet)
      • 1 ticket for 25 temp cache finds (per booklet)
      • 1 ticket for each bingo card with a bingo
      • 1 ticket for each bingo card blackout

(Maximum of 2 per booklet and 2 per bingo card.)

Essentially, what this means is that everyone has a chance to win, and people can increase their odds by finding temps and/or by playing the geocacher bingo game.

It will take a very litte effort (but some) to find 10 of the temps or get a bingo, so most people can get 3 chances pretty easy. It will be more difficult to get the maximum of 5 chances to win, as finding 25 temps will take more effort and getting a blackout is not easy either.

The hope here is that folks will “get something” for the temps, which was our feedback from the last event. Yet all those attending have a chance to win.

I am not posting this for debate or discussion of the relative merits. I just want to give people a heads up on how it is going to work and see if folks have any questions about this process.

      thanks,

In addition to many generous gifts from several companies, the following items have been purchased by the WGA for the prize table….

        2-$25 Kwik Trip cards
        1-$50 Kwik Trip cards
        1-really nice hip bag
        1-Eddie Bauer hiking stick
        2-rechargeable battery kits
        2-nice aluminum hydration bottles
1-headlamp for hunting those night caches!
        2-containers of Repel insect repellent

I think that’s it. If anyone has things they wish to donate to the prize table, feel free. See you tomorrow!
