So, I am throwing an event GC86W5T (June 29th) in West Central Wisconsin (Specifically New Richmond) and trying to attract new people into Geocaching. How do I get an interest in perhaps WGA popping an event tent up to help educate people on Geocaching and the WGA? I’ll buy the beverages for those that do this if necessary. 😊
06/07/2019 at 7:46 am #2063474When we were coincidentally living in New Richmond, we heard one of the (then) officers on Wisconsin Public Radio discussing geocaching. I had heard about it before, but that was the tipping point to get my wife interested. I know we can’t control what WPR has on their broadcasts, but have we tried to reach out to them recently?

First, thank you for holding this event. The more that we can get the word out about geocaching and what it is, the better. The WGA Board tries to support as many events as we can. That being said, we can’t attend every event. The nearest board member to River Falls is about a 2 hour drive away (and just happens to be hosting her own event that day). But it doesn’t have to be a board member that promotes the hobby and the WGA. Any members that would be open to promoting the WGA is encouraged to do so. We can support those members with flyers and a display piece about the WGA and a PowerPoint “Geocaching 101” presentation.

I just did one with them about two years ago. It was more about promoting WBCB but I was able to give the history of geocaching and information about the WGA. I think anyone can call into the show and say hey, let’s talk about this and they will reach out to a spokesperson for a discussion.

06/08/2019 at 11:10 am #2063501That would be awesome. What is the dimensions of the display board? Need to size it up to see if it fits in my Chevrolet Sonic. I have a black n White laser printer so printing up flyers isn’t a problem on my end and the Power Point would be fun however, I don’t use Office, I use Google Apps but I may have other solutions as well.

I can get you the files for both when I get back to work on Monday. The PPT is pretty large so I will have to send through Dropbox. Please e-mail me at [email protected] as to which email of yours you’d like me to send them to.
BigJim will be able to get you the dimensions of the display case.
Sounds like your event is going to be a hit!

06/13/2019 at 8:46 pm #2063540Sounds like this would fit in my car with the seats down just fine. How do I make arrangements for pickup and drop back off?
