Yes I need to get some ideas of how to play this sport without a computer. My Dad is interested in this but he doesn’t have an internet conection. So right now I am doing all the leg work for him. He gets the info and goes and looks during his spare time. Right now he has 6 finds to my 5.

Is there another computer source nearby? Like the library or something.

I don’t suppose that he has a cell phone? Some cell phones can log into the WAP site of geocaching.com thereby, get all of the necessary info.

If he doesn’t care if his finds get logged online, you could simply load a bunch of coordinates for caches into his gpsr and let him go to town. Just make sure the caches can be found with coordinates alone- i.e. puzzle caches & some others require additional information you can only find on the cache page.

Most really active geocachers upload cache pages onto a PDA, which does away with the need to print out cache pages altogether.

I routinely keep 700-800 cache pages in my PDA and the coordinates for them in my GPSr. This way, I can go all over the place and always have the data needed to hunt caches. I update the data weekly, to help ensure i’m not hunting caches that have been archived. Once you have a system down, the whole process only takes a couple of minutes.

I believe you have 7 finds.. Trudy & I recall you and your wife being with us at “Moscow, we have a problem” and at “Another Wisconsin First.” Your Inlaws and your wife’s cousin were there as well.

This was many months ago, you may have to search your memory.

“Cathunter” has a good idea … but if he does decide to “not worry about logging his finds” (either at all or soon) … please, please, please have him not taking any Travel Bugs out of caches then … that would really mess things up, if they are not being logged.

He has agreed to not take any travel bugs out. I talked to him about that. He might do some basic trading but knowing him he will just leave some goodies. Also he his very computer illiterate. Right now I am printing out pages of lat, longs and he is entering them by hand. This way I can keep up with his finds. I am logging in his finds so I can filter them out later otherwise I am going to have a lot of trouble later on.
