While this is not our first cache creation (GC142XB) this will be our first Earth Cache. 😀 Just completed the “adoption” process.
I am working on completing our Numero Uno EC and could use a little help in doing the hyperlink for the Flow Calculator and Units Converter. (to click on this text statement and the link would follow)
The Situation:
I tried creating and then editing the hyper-link to cut n paste it into the web page – the words follow but not the link itself………I sure that I’m missing some command(s) here:

Thanks in advance for any and all help. When this gets published we then will have made it to the Silver Master Level. We hope. 😆
Everyone should believe in something and I believe I’ll go caching.
07/23/2008 at 2:48 pm #1892541I have not added links like that to any of our listings, but try looking at what happens here on the forums when you insert a link by clicking the url thingie here. Look at that stuff and then try placing it at the beginning and end of your cache listing link. I think the stuff here is all html, so it would work there, too.
I’m sure someone who actually knows what they’re doing will weigh in soon, too. Is this going to be located in Wisconsin?
07/23/2008 at 5:50 pm #1892542Thanks.
But not quite what I need here T&B.
Still looking for the HTML help.
And, yes the EC will be in Wisconsin if and when I clear a hurdle.
Anyone?
07/23/2008 at 6:21 pm #1892543I’ll try to help out, but sometimes on the web when trying to give html examples the browser converts them to the display link, not displaying the actual code used to get it to do that. I have external links on a few of my cache pages and the code that worked for me was:
The example below is the actual code I see when I edit the cache page. The url starts with http:// and includes the long number/letter string, and that all goes in the anchor tag (between ‘‘). Next is the text I want to display, instead of the ugly url. In my case ‘Beefies – The Charolais (GCVNH7)’ is what you see when you view the cache page. Then put in the closing anchor tag () and you should be all set.

Beefies – The Charolais (GCVNH7)Hope this helped.
Lisa07/23/2008 at 7:35 pm #1892544Excellent! Thanks!
Thanks ever so much Lisa.
I do recall the “no follow” from something in the past relating to HTML and this now ties it all together for me. Much appreciated.
You provided a great explanation and example.
Thanks ever so much.
Now, I just have to clear a final hurdle (hopefully) to get my EC approved.
