Yesterday was our “geoversary.” Nine years ago, we found our first cache. We didn’t look for any to mark the date, but it did cause me to reflect a bit.
What finally got us involved was the discovery of place. One of our first finds took us to a trail system within five miles of our home we had no clue existed. We’ve been back many times since then.
Some cachers were posting photos of their junket to the MN/SD border. So of course I looked at what they were finding and looking at that map reminded me…I want to go back to Big Stone Nat’l Wildlife Refuge. We were there a few years back while working on the MN DeLorme. We were able to do an EC and state park cache, but had to get home. I told myself..I want to go back and just explore.
There are so many places like this we’ve discovered. This is one close enough that it probably can happen. So tell us…what one place is your “I wanna go back” that is a place you might actually have a chance of revisiting?
Lost Falls near Cornucopia. We found the cache there already (GCNMJF), but it is such a delightful place to “play”. The hike in was very doable for us, too.
There are lots of places in Wisconsin that we have found through caching, and some we have revisited a time or two. Most are on a small scale, but if we find ourselves traveling near the area, we’ll say, “Let’s go see that spot again!”
I want to go back to Marinette County to tour the waterfalls there. I had gone on a bus trip that focused on that county’s waterfall attractions (and even managed to find a cache or two without holding up the tour). Combining caching and visiting the falls is a nice idea for a trip…I think I may have to plan that! Thanks for the idea!
We just did a really quick trip up to the Apostle Islands. I did not get enough time to spend there! I can’t wait to go back again and explore some more.
