We’ll be joining a sponsored tour at the KVR on February 8. We’ll plan some sort of event that might wander over to the cave on February 22. We need to refresh our memory on the route there, and it gives us a chance to see if there’s any kind of ice curtain. From what friends told me, last year was a bust as far as a curtain went.

12/29/2013 at 3:27 pm #1973628That’s the date of the WGA Chili Event. That will leave us out as we will be in Green Bay for that.
12/29/2013 at 3:35 pm #1973629Reserved for Feb 22nd from 8:30-4:30 will be the Chili Event for those planning ahead. Cache page to come soon.
Feb 1st at Mosquito Hill in New London will be the LCG Event and Meet and Greet. Cache page to come soon.
Looks like the 8th may be open after all.

12/29/2013 at 3:36 pm #1973630Oh crap. We’ll give it some thought. If we go too much longer than that, it won’t be so cool. The weekend before this we already have tickets for the banjo stuff. People could just as easily join the KVR hike and gather what’s needed, though. That’s on February 8. There is a small charge, but we enjoyed the extra education that came with it.
12/29/2013 at 3:44 pm #1973631Is there a link for the outing on the 8th. That date might work for us.
12/29/2013 at 4:18 pm #1973632Scroll down near the bottom of this page. We’re planning to go as well. Just won’t get an event smiley, but the presenter does a really nice job.
12/29/2013 at 4:21 pm #1973633There is also an ice cave hike on January 11 in association with the Winterfest. We stayed away from that weekend because of the amount of traffic the event would generate, but if folks are interested, that would be another chance to be guided to the cave. I think he takes people to that same cave all the time.

12/29/2013 at 7:41 pm #1973634We were wishing for a Sunday date, so we wouldn’t miss it because of J’s work schedule.

12/31/2013 at 5:20 pm #1973636We didn’t do it in the winte, but in June (2010) and what an absolute blast. The water definately felt icy enough and was very welcome on a warm and very buggy day. Definately a memorable caching day for multiple reasons. Just added a “favorite point” (one of those retro favorite points because of when we did this)
02/06/2014 at 8:32 pm #1973637Just an update…we’d hoped we could get out to the grotto this Saturday to be ready later this month to take folks out there. We will be at a family function that came up instead. Sorry to any who we’re counting on us to get you out there. Go to Bayfield and see those caves instead. 😉
