Below is the log from an Illinois geocacher who found Capture the Flag II in Winnebago county today – worth noting!
Log Date: 4/23/2004
What a beautiful day to go caching. We had time for only one local cache, so..
After receiving a tip from lppd841 about the CTFII location we decided that this would be the one. Not wanting to get my feet wet I brought along some rubber boots. A good choice as the container got stuck on a log while pulling it to shore so I donned my boots and waded out to free the cache. Hurray!
Signed the log with Co. and tossed it back.
This is where it gets interesting:
Upon arrival back at the parking lot, we were arrested by the Forest Preserve Sheriff.
No NOT funny.
We were told to report to the office and face the music. It seems NO cache hiders have registered with the Winnebago County Forest Preserve, and NO cache’ are to be in the water. As well as No cachers are to be in the water.
We promptly registered as cache hiders and left the premises
Makes you think twice!
I’m assuming (by talking about “Forest Preserve Police”) that we are talking about Winnebago County, IL? Not WI?
I grew up in Cook County and those Forest Preserve Police can get a little funky from time to time.
oooh…could have been me…I guess I broke the law there as well…wow…
