Marc, the gc number is in the OP. We got it, btw. I was just impatient, while Trekkin’ was on the trail of a solve working at the other computer downstairs!

I almost think this one could be a 5 difficulty, cause it seems like it requires special knowledge to understand. If I knew how to discern where the numbers break, I’d be happy to sit and hand decrypt it. Not that different than S4, and I managed that!
Anything I google to try and gain some insight seems to require a basic knowledge of coding. I don’t know if I’m converting to ACSII, hexidecimal or what! I’ve tried them all.
What I meant was what did the cache owner say when you asked for a clue.
Looks like you have it figured out anyway, so no matter. This isn’t a 5 difficulty though. 4 is pushing it, other than the tedium of hand decoding the whole thing.03/29/2009 at 11:39 pm #1904667@Trekkin’ and Birdin’ wrote:

the gc number is the OP – huh??
03/30/2009 at 12:40 am #1904668If you meant amita’s dilemma……not sure on that one!

Social Networking Lingo!!
03/30/2009 at 12:21 pm #1904670I’m quoting amita17’s post – what cache is she referring to!
03/30/2009 at 7:18 pm #1904671this was a hard one really made me think even asked for a clue from the owner which did`nt help at all

I can’t find it. I remember it was WAY too many pages to print, so I just printed the binary code chart I got from a website, and was translating it from the monitor.
It had to be in the Fox Valley. And it may have been on the Jan/Feb. Lonely cache list. The word binary is not in the cache name, but I am thinking it had base or zero or one in the name. I will no doubt stumble across it again.
To refer to a previous thread on how organized am I in my geocaching–not very. I have papers all over, notebooks, folders… if I find it, I will ask you if you have another suggestion for a solve.
OR, is it one of yours, and you know this? ๐ ๐
03/31/2009 at 12:37 am #1904673gotta be GCRW51 Something Technical About It
this one certainly comes to mind when reading Amita17’s last post!

Well, if that’s not it, it is another just like it! Yes, that is a 50 page puzzle I wouldn’t print but would try to solve on screen. I will reread your PM suggestions about the solve.
Thank you ๐

Yes, that’s it! The one I point out in my puzzle class as one NOT to print!
03/31/2009 at 2:47 pm #1904676I know what puzzle I’m working on today! ๐

That’s just nuts! A rather easy solve when you have the right idea about it though…

Mark, Please tell us you’re in computer sciences or something like that! Although now that Trekkin’ “gets” this kind of thing, it’s not as tough as it first seemed.
04/04/2009 at 10:57 am #1904679No, not computer science or anything like that.
Just luck sometimes.
Puzzles caches are really potluck. I might look at one several times, and not ‘see’ anything. Benny glances at it, and says right out what the solution is!
There are several procedures to follow or check on when encountering a new puzzle. I outline them in my Puzzle class info.
There are new ones coming up all the time……
