World’s Best Cheeseburger Cache Event
I came across this while looking for less snowy hunting grounds. Looks like fun and close enough for some of us in southern Wisconsin. Free food to boot!

Waukesha02/16/2003 at 8:53 pm #1735251Yeap! We’ve already logged that we will be there!
02/16/2003 at 11:33 pm #1735252Sorry we can’t be there… We will be on our way to Florida for a few days.
Does anyone here have the connections to set up something similar for WGA?
This looks like a really cool event.02/23/2003 at 8:23 am #1735253Steve Bukosky and I went down to Illinois for this event. Nothing inspires like the promise of free food and caches.
The caches, none of which were temporary, were high quality. Some even had a “Kettle Moraine” look and feel.
I have many more faces to match to signatures. Even before we had started on our first hunt, we had met several teams with recognizable names. Only other Wisconsin team that we ran into was team CacheBarr. Others may have been present.
We didn’t win any prizes, in fact we missed the event raffle because we were out caching.
The event went off flawlessly. Most impressive was the amount of visible effort the organizers had done in preparing caches, cache sheets and answering questions.
And the cheeseburgers were excellent. Iowa corn fed beef, Wisconsin cheese, Illinois prepared. Can’t lose.

02/23/2003 at 2:28 pm #1735254Yes, we too, had a great time! Very nice planned event. Tons a caches to hunt for and not enough time to get them all in!
We picked up a travelling geocache named 50 STATES that wants to get to one geocache from every state. We also picked up a birdie travel bug to bring back with us only to find out when we got home to log it that Sbukosky took it there from Wisconsin. That goes to show that Birdies do travel fast!
02/23/2003 at 4:11 pm #1735255That’s the great thing about travel bugs. You never know where they are going to end up. Wish there were more cheeseheads there representing us but we put up a good fight. Nobody pulled off my Packers knit cap or tried to toss me in the rivers. (hard water) But seriously, the hospitality of BSpeng and everyone else involved was fantastic. It was great meeting some familiar names and some not familiar that recognized Jeff and I. While I enjoy the peace and quite of solo caching, these social events from time to time are really a whooop!

And great job representing Wisconsin
02/24/2003 at 2:11 am #1735257I agree – great that you folks could make it down there. It would be nice to have one like that in Wisconsin.
