I like the new 4 door Wranglers a LOT, but they are too pretty and I;d be afraid to scratch it up. If a Jeep doesn’t have some “tree pinstriping” on it, you lose points with the Jeep guys…
06/12/2010 at 3:01 pm #1930120Jeep has come a long way in the past few years. Unfortunately, Jeep owners have not, and will not. Though I see a lot more “pretty” jeeps on the road these days, than trail jeeps. And I see way to many of them “pimped” out. Hummers too.
I bought and built my Xterra to take it off road and it’s got the scars to prove it!
06/14/2010 at 12:20 pm #1930121So yeah, no go on the Outback. The gf had a look at it and just wasn’t feeling it. She kind of a perfectionist, so everything has to be perfect (or darn near!) And so the hunt continues. We’ve got three more on the list for tonight. We looked at the exteriors yesterday, so today we’ll get inside them and take them for a ride.
2003 Mitsubishi Outlander LS
66,xxx miles
$89952006 Pontiac G6 GTP Sedan
63,xxx miles
$10,9952009 Toyota Corolla S
46,xxx miles
$12,995 (though I’m sure the price in the window was less)06/14/2010 at 2:28 pm #1930122Ya can’t go wrong with the Corolla S. Great car to drive, economical and will last forever. And it’s not bad to look at either.
The Mitsu I can’t tell you about. It’s one of the few I’ve never driven nor heard much about. Mitsu’s are a pretty relaible breed and hold their value.
06/14/2010 at 3:17 pm #1930123We both are leaning mostly toward the ‘yota. It’s not very performance oriented (has the 1.8L) but it looks nice and gets about 30mpg. That’s definitely nothing to scoff at π
06/15/2010 at 1:37 am #1930124And the winner is……’03 Mitsubishi Outlander! We just decided that it was the best vehicle for us at this point in our lives. The increase of ground clearance and AWD is great for winter. And the cargo storage works great for transporting animals and other what not stuff. AND, and….I can get a kayak π
06/15/2010 at 2:47 pm #1930125Congrats! Enjoy the new ride, and the kayak!
06/15/2010 at 4:49 pm #1930126nice work!!
06/16/2010 at 3:49 am #1930127So….the jeep was a no-go for us…the wife didn’t like riding in the two door version…..:(:( and I didn’t want to spring for a four door one until we get the scion paid off next spring….so we went shopping…and got this…
2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR LS AWD
93,000 milesWe walked out the door for $6780.93
We can be Mitsubishi buddies!!!
06/16/2010 at 12:14 pm #1930128Sweeeeet. π
06/16/2010 at 2:20 pm #1930129And I think the term is “Mitsubishi Mates.”
Just think, it’s like you’re Black Beard and I’m Long John Silver.
Or, we could be Spy Vs Spy π06/16/2010 at 2:56 pm #1930130It’s actually BLUE beard, but you can’t tell from that picture there.
And “”HEY!! IT HAS A DVD PLAYER!!”” Seriously, that’s what I exclaimed AFTER we both had driven it, checked all the belts and stuff, signed the papers, and I was backing it out of the parking spot to take it home…
You would think they would have pointed that out as a selling point…or that we would have noticed the big box on the ceiling… π
06/16/2010 at 4:52 pm #1930131You mean this old thing?

Took a look at the other pics. Looks nice. And the blue shows a lot better in some of the other angles. Any upgrades planned yet? π
Side note: Are roof racks suppose to have cross bars on them? I don’t think mine does π
06/16/2010 at 5:05 pm #1930132Yeah….well if you want to look at pictures…SURE…HHAHAHAAH
But really, we were just casually shopping around a bit online, no desperate rush or anything and I saw that one come up with a HUGE “one-day” price drop…and I left work early. Just checked one time to scope the carfax, then consumer reports, blue book value, the usual research stuff, then went and drove it and bought it. I never looked at the website a second time.
I plan to add fog lights right away, and the wife loves the sidesteps on our explorer (which we sold for double what we would have gotten in trade about four hours after we decided to list it on craigslist…)
So those will be the first two adds…then I need to spec out the roof rack situation for my eventual kayak purchase… π π
06/16/2010 at 5:07 pm #1930133cross bars were an option for Mitsu’s in those days. Mine has them, I think I saw them for sale for outlanders in the $40.00 range last night IIRC….
