I believe Missouri has .05% added into their sales tax that funds their DNR. I would not be against that small of a tax hike. That’s nothing compared to the 88% increase in the township I live in.

Iowa vehicles are charged by their age, hence a new vehicle is very very expensive(some are 200.00+), while our 1996 toyota wagon(which we keep iowa plates on) is 20.00.
Not to get political, i really dont care for Doyle. But he was handed how many years of Thompsons big spending, big gov’t era?

The license issue pisses me off too! I hunt to feed my family, don’t care about racks(can’t eat em)But being a single income family of 4 i have to now make decisions as to how my license dollars will be spent. So this year already no turkey permits, i will not buy bonus tags( so no free deer to the local food banks cause i’ll be needing the free antlerless permits for me)I heard soon that that may go away too! So the decisioni must make is between gun and or bow season only.Definately going to hunt bow.( more days to use) I hunt a mix of private and public land and i’ve got to tell you i don’t see all the deer that are supposedly in the state. There’s 1.7 million deer( est?), a few of us conclude they must be in the metro zone where hunting is not allowed, because i can almost count the amount of deer i’ve seen all season on my fingers and toes. BTW the non resident license did go up to 140.00 from 125.00
(last year..so they got the bite too..Iowas non resident went from 102.00 to 306.00)
The state will not impose a big rise on the non res permits for fear that the folks will not come.(unfounded fear)

They State should really start to look at the fact snowmobiles are a dying form of recreation and embrace the idea of a Statewide ATV trail system…theres a few million dollars to be made in trail permit stickers.
The State park sticker and camping fees should have been jacked up higher too. I’m willing to pay more there, because im a park user and appreciate the job the stae has done with the park system.

im going to be quiet now… sorry for the ramble…i get that way sometimes….

The DNR has a few new web pages that relate to this thread. According to this, fees collected from fish & game licenses do not go into the general fund. It looks like the greatest of the fee increases will be for deer hunting and sturgeon fishing.

I don’t have much of an opinion about the deer hunting … but I’m ok about them charging those doctors more for fishing!
