(forgive my spelling)
Given the forecast for a potential soaker the day of the event is there or will there be a potential for the event being changed?
I would guess many may stay under the shelter but if it the same shelter we used when we hid the caches that would be very close quarters09/12/2008 at 1:22 pm #1895900Actually the shelter we are going to be at is enclosed and is quite a bit bigger than what we had for home-base on cache hiding day.
09/12/2008 at 2:11 pm #1895901Not to mention that REAL geocachers are not stopped by rain, snow, hail, heat, cold, ticks, mosquitoes, deer flys, bears, alligators, or any other obstruction. Unfortunately, my parents are having some serious health issues which will prevent our attending this year. Find a couple for us!

09/12/2008 at 3:00 pm #1895902Now that you mentioned inclement weather it IS going to rain. Thanks a lot. 🙁 😡
The shelter capacity is 100, so not everyone will fit. However, it does provide a nice dry place for the registration and the food.
Most likely the enclosed Evergreen Shelter will be open (definitely the bathrooms will be, but I’m not 100% sure about the side with the tables… we will ask the rangers to do this), so that would provide a second place to hang out.
We could allow folks to hunt the temp caches longer on Sunday morning before picking them up. We’ll “play it by ear” as to weather (oops whether) this is necessary.
09/13/2008 at 12:08 am #1895903I just saw the weather report and it looks like a winter report. One to Three inches accumulation expected tomorrow.
09/13/2008 at 11:24 am #1895904Yup, it’s going to be a soaker today. The shelter is beautiful, and is a nice place to come socialize.
09/13/2008 at 12:30 pm #1895905Yeah, we’re wimping out on this one. 🙁 Would come just for the socializing if it were closer, but don’t relish the long drive in heavy rain. Give our printed materials to someone else, and our laminated nametags? Save ’em for next year…
Y’all have fun. Dang rain!!!! 😥 😥 😥
09/13/2008 at 5:12 pm #1895906It’s not too late to come out folks. There is a dry slot in the weather, and it looks like a few hrs of no rain. We already have about 125 brave souls that are out caching!
