I was curious if any of you have recieved an e-mail from a company called Lake Powell Marine in regards to your website.. It sounds friendly yet at the same time sounds like spam or cookie cutterish. It basically asks us to link them on our webpage and then asks if they can link to us. I’ve pasted the email on our page and it can be read using this link: http://www.cacheseekers.com/email.txt

I’m just curious if anybody else has recieved similar messages and what others thoughts are on it. I’m not too keen on the idea of having any ads on our page, especially with links to a place/product distributer that I have not used or tried.

Do not respond to such an email … most often a faked link that will trash your computer one way or another.

And not only that, they want you to advertise for them for free! It’s one thing if there were a referrer link in there similar to what Amazon has where you get a percentage of each sale. This is just a plain URL to their site.

Looks like a good spot to click the Delete button…

Yeah, I’m not going to be responding to it. I deal with thousands of e-mails a day with scams etc for some of the clients I have. (I’m a IT Consultant) I was just curious if anyone else is getting any of these. If a lot of people were getting them I’d almost say that some sort of warning for people should be made. *shrug*

One solution to eliminate junk getting install on your computer from spam is to not use Windows Or to use a text based email application. FreeBSD + Pine or Evolution rules all

It’s almost like a newbie opening a webshop and trying to get referal links.

I love seeing all of these new phishing techniques…

Yes I got it. I thought maybe I was lucky since I’m the prez, but I guess more people are getting them.

I’ll ignore the email and see if it goes away. I don’t think we need a link for boat parts on our website.
