I was looking at a chart that I generated of all those niggling statistics so many of us love to study. This one tracks the number of caches we’ve found according to the month of their original placement date. Far and away, the largest number for any given month is April. Any other months, the number of caches placed by month is almost 200 less…..or more.
Theories? Or differing observations? My thinking is the weather is finally getting decent and folks are itchy to go out and put new things out after hibernating through the winter.
Interestingly enough, when I look at the chart that organizes the number of finds on any given calendar date, other than August (West Bend Cache Bash craziness), we tend to do the most finding in late winter/early spring. I figure that’s to keep Trekkin’ as tick free as possible!
Here’s my hide history.
January 1
February 13
March 13
April 24
May 12
June 17
July 16
August 16
September 15
October 10
November 22
December 6
Other than December and January and probably because of snow burying hiding spots I’m fairly consistant each month. The slight spikes in April and November were due to putting out series.
I didn’t break it down that closely, but I can see we never placed any caches during the months of July or August. Guess we better take care of that! Overall, it looks like we’ve placed more in the late fall/winter/early spring months. Not so many during the hotter ones.
