I know that Saturdays are usually slow on the forums because people are outside, but there have been no posts for many hours. I also know that there were many, very nasty, storms that rolled through southern WI today. Please let us know how things are south of 29. The weather maps looked horrible!

      Appleton is still standing.

Thanks for asking bnb….I picked the wrong day to do cache maintenance! Actually, I got to maintain 10 caches until the “triple threat” went into effect all at once in Washington County: 1) tornado warning 2) flash flood warning and 3) Hail storm
I could have used another two hours to finish up with maintenance, BUT who would be out geocaching under these weather conditions?

We’re currently south of 29 in Manitowoc and the storms were nasty.

But we managed to grab Page 57 and 56 before it got really bad! 😀 Hoping to do a bunch more caching in the area tomorrow, but haven’t seen the forecast yet. Rain is fine. Lightning, no.

I work nites and after a late monring early afternoon of Earthcaching, I got to sleep aobut 330p. Got woken up by sirens about 430p. We have one just one block away. I woke so suddenly I wasn’t even sure what the noise was. Living in the Upper Bunny Hutch, I took watch out the window til the winds came then hopped down the the basement for a while. I have never been “IN” the storm with potential tornados directly over head before.

Everything survivied, nothing blown over. So much rain the water was shooting over 6 feet UP out of the manhole in the middle of the street. Strange to see. Took my camera out the front door to try to get a shot of that and a bolt of lightening hit so close I could feel the bunny fur on my arms stand up. Hit more heavy rain on the way in to Waukesha from Milwaukee at about 10p.

Needless to say, after having been up over 30hrs (trying to turn around to nights after being off) I got a mere 4 hrs of very broken sleep. Here I typing at 3am, trying to stay awake at work. What a weekend!!! Enough is enough for the rain already!! I guess it could be worse…. could have been 21 inches of snow instead of 3 inches of rain!! LOL

Ummm, any normal red blooded geocachers, especially if a FTF was at stake, and we all know geocachers are not normal.

Glade to hear everyone is ok thou.

Lots & lots of rain (over 3″ so far), but no serious flooding at the “Tie” household.

It was a busy night at work. About 40 reports of flooded roads. The water was over the tops of fire hydrants in many areas. You can also throw in a mud slide near the hospital.

Round 2 is coming very soon this morning. It won’t take much to set off the floods again, since the ground is extremely saturated.

We survived the tornados. I was marking strong rotation over the City of Waukesha during the warning. I sheltered all my squads and all calls held until the storm was passed. This was potentially the most dangerous sitation I’ve seen, tornado wise, in the last 10 years. Luckily the rotation did not produce a tornado.

At home, the damn “helicopters” from the maple trees, clogged the downspouts, leading to water in the basement. No damage, just a pain in the ass.

      Here comes round 2…. 🙁

Apparently there was a tornado in Fort Atkinson. So me and the pets went to the basement. That’s not a transportation issue for three cats and a small terrier. Carrying a 60 pound greyhound down (and later up) stairs is not fun. But I did some laundry and made sure my sump pump was working.

Today I will just hunker down at home and do some needed housework (geocaching has made me a bad housekeeper).

Glad you made it through Bec. Was there really a tornado in Fort Atkinson, or just a reported one?

I rode through one tornado warning with really strong winds and pea sized hail (I did stop along the side of the road for a couple minutes when it got really bad), but pulled off in Jefferson when I heard the sirens blaring there. I saw what appeared to be a funnel cloud with obvious rotation while waiting it out under a picnic shelter during the second tornado warning. Later I heard about the reported tornado in Fort and figured they might be the same?

I believe that might have been the same one. Not sure if it did any damage. Usually Fort Atkinson is pretty lucky. A few years back we had one go through and knock down a bunch of trees just a couple blocks from me. From what I’ve heard, this one was on the edge of town.

We camped all weekend in Pelican Lake. On the drive back, when we passed through Antigo there were dozens of very large trees downed throughout the town.
