A friend gave me a Magellan Trailblazer Xl, and it just keeps searching for sats. Read a post by shrek & fiona had similar problem. Any luck solving? Also moderator may have misc for sale? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
thks in advance
I’m the one that has the video and accessories.
If the unit hasn’t worked in quite a while, it may require a long time for it to figure out the almanac for the satellites.
If you can fumble your way though the menus, try to find the date and make sure it has the correct date and time in the GPS. If the date is wrong, it will be looking for the satellites for the day programmed in the GPS. It may be looking for satellites that are on the opposite side of the planet.
Once you confirmed the date, let the GPS sit in a wide open area and let it search for 15-30 mins. If it doensnt lock on after 30 minutes, there is probably a bigger problem.
I still have the video, and a mounting bracket that you could have for $5.00 plus shipping
If your GPS looks similar to the cover of the video tape I posted, then the tape would probably cover your unit also. The main difference between the trailblazer and the meridian is that the meridian was a marine unit and had a “man overboard” button.
Hope this helps.
