Okay Mrs. TE here I need to whine, we started a cache last week that was a 6 pt multi… the guy (team/ resort name) who put it out has never logged a cache according to the profile.
We pull up to wp one and go right past it into a private campground.. realizing from the clue and not the wp that was 100 feet off we start to back up. Of course the owner/care taker was there to “help” us and had never heard of geocaching and said he did not know there was anything on his property.
Okay figure out the clue and math… drive to part 2…
Not far down the road and across the street to a highschool ropes course.. as we pull in the caretaker of the grounds flags us down and asks what we are doing there. When we told him he was fine with it and obviously knew what was going on.
WP 2 was a sign, again 100 feet off…. part 3 also 100 feet off but within walking distance of 2, just count rocks in the crotch of a tree and then go back to car. This place was obviously worthy of it’s own cache IMHO.
Drive to part 4 and start a great woods hike on a pretty good trail, would have been to difficult for ET because of rocks, roots etc. Go to a dock.. count planks do the math…hike to part 5…. neat hike with trees to jump over and a board walk needing a little repair… this part was count trees over 8 inch in diameter… did not have a tape measure with us but kind of figured it out. hike back to car… This area really deserves it own cache.
Drive to a private resort… wp 6 is 350 feet off but could be figured out once again from the clue. Now after all the math off for the final… which I truly did not want to give 1 mintue of my time searching for by this point, expecting this wp to be 100-300 feet off as well and with “no clue” how would one know.
We end up in some ladies land where the sign “beach house” made it look like it was part of the resort… she was friendly but told us where the different property lines were… seems the resort is divided up with some private lots around… I go to car and let Jim search a bit… We decide it best to write the owner who has yet to reply… in the meantime group finds it and says how bad the coords were but that they were able to find the final.
So we went to that today… and did find it at the resort. This whole thing is rated a 1-1.Not to be caching police or anything, how did the guy figure his ratings? just wondering why it goes to a resort? Why the person did not place caches in the other two nice places he took us…. and why he does not answer his mail… okay done with my rant…. at least we did get a smiley.. LOL.
Mrs. TE07/08/2007 at 7:16 pm #1876833Sounds like its a bit off for sure, hopefully they respond.
07/08/2007 at 7:33 pm #1876834The wp with the ladders almost got us, but we also did find the final. I also wondered why there weren’t seperate caches in each of the previous “parks”. At least now it is doable though. Our first attempt took us to a store entrance next to the resort lodge. That did not seem right.

Ugh.
