Is your "first" still there?

The first cache we ever found was “Roche-a-Cri #3” (GC6C11) in October of 2007. The cache was already over five years old at that time, and it is still active and being found. We’ve even revisited it a couple of times when we were walking in the area.

The second cache we ever found was archived less than a year after we found it. It had been out just shy of a year.

Is the first cache you ever found still in place, or maybe a new one has replaced it, or maybe you don’t remember it at all?

After we saw CommanderUSN on TV about geocaching and went out and get a GPS. we went home and walk up to the park with my wife and the GPS, after a little looking around, we found it and we’re hooked. Now I have a cache near the cache we found.

My First find! Received a GPSr & FAQ printout from geocaching.com as a birthday gift 3 days ago. This cache is 736.5 miles from my home! Traveling on business.

Please take only one bead per GPSr, (not as a trade item) and don’t leave anything else in the cache.

If you found the whole series you could make a bracelet out of SILVER beads — wire included. Never seen anything like that since!

Looks like the last bead was taken in January of 08. Cache archived February of 11.

The first cache I found had only been in play a couple weeks when I found it. I was the fifth to find it. It was archived less than a year later. I replaced it with another cache by the same name within 24 hours.

Well it does not show up on my profile correctly, but our first cache was a lil otter cache here in Mountain on 7/31/04. It is still active, as it was adopted to us back on 8/9/07. has had 143 finds since it was placed back in 02.

so the story goes I was walking at the dog park with my dog and I stumbled upon a ammo can which then introduced me to geocaching,I thought it was a active cache called Garmer,well it so happend to not be that cache and a archived cache due to it going MIA. I gave the owner after tracking them down a email stating I have found it and they said keep it.so I did.
So no my first found cache is not active and wasnt at the time I found it but I do have the ammo box which is on the side of my moms house as a cache.

TNLN Wow, what a great sport this is. This is my first cache found, ever. new to this but am instantly hooked!!
would have left something but realized I didn’t have anything to leave until halfway into the hunt. There are some interesting items in this cache. Lovely location just to walk in.

what is even cooler is that I have had the honor of adopting this one. I couldn’t stand to see it archived so I contacted Dougger and he agreed to adopt it out.

Second, My fist cache find was GC132AR “Stairway to Cooper”. I think my log sums it up” 🙂 This was our first cache find! It was Fun.”
It was the closest to home. My daughter, Hannah (then 5), and I walked over to the park after school and found it. We took a Miller Pencil and left a $1. Good Times.

This was my 1st cache find and adopted a few years back. Being that is a little bit out of town, it doesn’t get found all that much. It’s the original as far as I know.
I found with a an blue Etrex that I bought with our wedding money. Almost got divorced over it. Was manning the store we use to own one day and saw this “geocaching” thingy on it. Punched the addy in to the computer, punched in the zip. Whooooo! There some in Hayward?!?!?!? Looked at the map. Well I know where it’s at! That night I went and looked for it and found it right where it should have been. As I looked back at the logs, I see it was Team Smith Lake’s 1st cache too. It is because of their two cache puzzle series that I got hooked in this game.

Our first find was GCGRAC Echo Dells Cache, on the Green Circle Trail along the Wisconsin River in Stevens Point. It was a good cache to set the hook, a pretty walk on a gravel trail, done on a warm spring thaw evening after work. I can still remember that feeling when I pulled that big tupperware out of its hollow and thought “Wow! Somebody hid this here. Cool!”. Since caching has become such a big part of our lives, I guess you could call that a defining moment?

Looking back now, only 2 of my first 15 caches are still active.

My first cache was found while on a cub scout trip. They had a geocaching class so after finding out what it was about I went. We found two caches that day and had so much fun I bought a gps the next week. My first find
GCYHZ1 was actually found twice. I found it during the day while the kids were in school, then after school I took them and found it again. We have been finding them ever since.

My first cache was an EarthCache that I’d been to many, many times before so I hardly count that one. My first physical cache is the one that I count and it is GCVQV6. A nice ammo can in the woods by The Tapps. We found it using the Nuvi from our car, I had no idea how inaccurate they were and that there was better equipment out there at the time. It’s funny to think about now.

Here’s our log, I didn’t even mention that it was our first cache! “I’m pretty sure that the mosquitos hatched while we were walking to this one because all of a sudden we were swarmed and got lots of bites. Still a great time! The woods were beautiful and this cache was full of goodies for the kids. “
