I’m having a hard time deciding on two of our votes and if you answer this to our liking you may get our vote. So far very few of the answers to the questions have inspired us. Most seem to agree with whoever answers first. We have attended WGA campouts, picnics, CITO’s, LCG and Winter Chili events. We have also served on committees for the picnic, campout and chili event. I would expect the same and more from a board member. If you are elected how many of these events will you help with planning and implementing and also attend. Also if you would not be able to attend or help out let me know why. I would expect a board member to be close to 100% committed. Our last two votes will be cast based on the answer to this post.

Excellent question Mister Greenthumb! I understand your concern for making your selections. I personally love helping with the events. Helping lay caches for the picnic was a lot of fun! I am also on the committee for the camp out this upcoming May hoping to lend a hand wherever I can there. So doing my fair share of work will be nothing but fun for me. As far as attending the events, I can honestly say that I will be at every upcoming event, unless there is an unexpected emergency. I feel all board members should be at every WGA event.

Thank you for the question. The main four, LCG, Chili Lunch, Spring Campout and Fall picnic I am planning on attending. CITO’s, while I fully support them, I will not be able to attend all of them. One reason why is when I have to put on my Leave No Trace Trainer’s Course, Summer Camp with my son or my daughter’s Super Event for her Venture Crew. This year, as a non-board member, I volunteered to help out with the Campout.

As a board member (if elected), I will support and promote the WGA 100%. Events I cannot attend I plan on still helping out rather if its getting out geocaching lnt hand tags or by giving out moral support. Also, I am in the progress of helping my daughter plan her 2nd CITO Event which will be sometime in June.

I hope this answers your question and I am 100% sure that no matter who you vote for, they will do a bang up job!

Over the last 2 years, we have made and worked all of the campouts, picnics, Spring Highway CITO, Winter events, and WB Pancake Breakfasts. This year we will attend the LCG. We have not made any of the Regional CITO’s but if they are in our area we would go. as for the fall Highway Cleanup, it conflicts with one of my annual Fire Trainings . Over the next two years, we plan on attending all the events and working at them.

This is similar to the Work Horse question but more direct.

I’m full in- that’s why I have put off running for the BOD the last 2 yrs. My family and work schedule would’ve made it too difficult.

I like not only attending the events but enjoy planning and working at them. This past Fall I was able to clear a spot with a family thing to offer a last minute volunteer with the trackables which worked ok but it’s better to be in the planning from the beginning.

In 2012 and again this weekend, I’ve been co-hosting the LCG Event. Last year was about putting together the presentation and amassing the awards for the top players, while hunting down the best location for the event. This year, with 3 co-hosting, I concentrated on a new GeoBingo game, soliciting Door Prizes and coming up with the cache event page and drummed up some snacks and drinks to take the edge off those hungry and thirsty cachers. I get a kick out of volunteering and helping out. It also gives me a good chance to visit and meet new people.

I’ve volunteered for the 2012 & 2013 geocoins committees, weighing in with the others in working on the new coins and have just offered -cheeto- help with the Appleton CITO on Earthday. Coupled with the Facebook page, I’m pretty busy already with WGA stuff, even though it is all “unofficial” work.

Why would I volunteer so much?

I’ve been doing this all to get a taste of what a BOD would be doing to test the waters and see if I had what it would take. I think I do.

I’m not just a Fox Valley event guy- I’ve been to events at the Dog Park in Milwaukee, the Sussex St. Pat’s Day and this yr’s Janboree, Fall and Spring WGA events and others. I like to get around and visit.

There is only 1 thing that would keep me away from a WGA event- a family conflict and right now we schedule everything out so we can plan.

These are all things I have already done without having a “commitment”- I wouldn’t expect the workload to lighten just because I earn a place on the BOD.

    Hello Mister Greenthumb!

As we spoke at the Waukesha Janboree event, I already have the Chili Event, BOD meeting, Campout, WB Pancake event and Fall picnic dates already on my calendar. It definitely does take a commitment on the part of ALL the BOD members to both plan and run the actual events. It is more than just showing up and being there, it is taking a piece and “doing it”.

Yes, you have played a key role in several of these past events so I know you have a great working knowledge of what goes into them. Thank you!

Well, as I’ve stated in previous postings, I won’t be able to attend the LCG event or the Spring Campout because of prior commitments. The LCG is because of prep for a gaming convention this spring. During the spring campout I’ll be performing for children at my church with puppets. As far as the chili event, WB Pancake event and fall picnic count me in. Yes, I know there is a lot that goes into planning and pulling off events, and I’ll put in anywhere I can without also getting in the way. When it comes down to it, I make a decent grunt and I can usually see what needs doing.

I have all of those events marked on my calendar and am planning on attending. I’m already in on the discussion of planning for the WGA chili event and I plan on helping out if I am needed for the others. Now I just have to decided if I want to buy a new tent or tent trailer for the campout as our old tent died in Yellowstone and we threw it away. If I am elected to the board you can certainly count on me to do my part in helping with the events or other help out in other ways that are needed.
