I am Jason Johnston with the Geocaching name of “jmj-wi” out of New Richmond, WI., which is a quiet and growing rural community in Western Wisconsin within Saint Croix County. I work full time with Phillips-Medisize as a Tier-3 Machine Operator. I have 3 adult children, 4 grandchildren, and 3 chihuahuas.
My Geocaching adventures started in 2013 when I visited a friend of mine Varofharken in Peoria, IL., who had been Geocaching for a few years prior. He introduced me to the game, and i have been hooked ever since. I have been a premium member of Geocaching since the beginning and have even hidden several caches within my own community, and have hosted an event to try and introduce others to Geocaching. As of today I have logged just short of 2,000 finds in 11 States and have hidden 46 caches.
I have served on the WGA Board of Directors for the past 2 years (2020-2021) and I have enjoyed the relationships that I have developed with other board members and general members of the WGA over the last 2 years, and look forward to serving the organization for another term if I am elected. I feel that I have contributed a lot to the BOD these past 2 years and have lots of time and energy to contribute going forward again if elected.
A personal goal that I have is to help promote Geocaching more in Western and Rural Wisconsin, and educate new/current cachers of the existence of the WGA.
