Now as I understand it the Jeep bugs are to keep them traveling. Is this right or are we to collect them as prizes? I see a few of 2004’s out there and was just wondering. I was thinking about how many got released verus how many seem to be out there yet. It looks to me that some people might be keeping them. Any thoughts on the subject?
The only freedom we have is decideing what we do with the time we have.We are to catch and release them. But I agree, I think there is more catching than releaseing going on.
I got one yesterday and I’m going for one tomorrow so look for one (or two) to be released in the Oconomowoc area later this week.Just because you don’t see them showing up on cache pages, doesn’t mean they’re not out there! A lot of people are dropping them into caches and picking them up again (while physically leaving them in the cache) so that they become a surprise to the finder. So, cache as you would if you were caching…don’t just go looking for jeeps! You never know where you’ll find one.
That is a neat idea CB&MB. Who doesn’t like a surprise of the Jeep kind??? I’m thinking that may be the fate of the Jeep I picked up two days ago. {evil smile developing}
Just out of curiosity, I just checked all the caches for the state of Wisconsin-
I remember hearing that there was approximately 80 WJTB given out for distribution in WI
out of those 80 Jeeps, There are 15 showing in cache pages.
out of those 15:
3 are in event pages, so they are unavailable, leaving 12 in actual caches.
Of those 12 caches, 8 have logs saying that the Jeep is missing, leaving 4.
Of those 4, one is in an archived cache, leaving a whopping 3 out of 80 that MIGHT be still in the caches- that is unless they have been stolen already and nobody has mentioned it in their logs.
I would rather that people just use them the way they are meant to be used, rather than trying to “improve” the regular system. By droping them into a cache and not logging them in, it just makes them more likely to be stolen when they are found.
