Read the comma in his statement …for Lacrosse, Madison or Eau Claire are going to be the closest. So in other words no jeeps to LaCrosse.
06/13/2005 at 11:43 pm #1738108As I stated earlier: LOOK:

Someone in your area will have Jeeps and they will be showing up in caches in your area.

06/14/2005 at 12:05 am #1738109Like I said last year at this time:
(paraphrasing myself now) What’s with all the fuss about these dang Jeeps? Come on, folks. Let’s get bent out of shape over things that really matter.06/14/2005 at 12:08 am #1738110Im done… I was just stating my opinion….
“Be safe and Keep on Searchin”06/14/2005 at 12:10 am #1738111With 2,500 caches in hundreds of towns all over the state, there will be no way to make everyone happy. My suggestion- Deal with it!
It should be remembered that these Travel Bugs do not get listed in the name of the original hider. As neat as a jeep may be, we all have the opportunity to create our own bugs, which is in itself a great thing.
I’d rather have a rubber chicken than a jeep any day!

What I was saying in the edited version is that instead of condemming Brian for what he’s doing in Milwaukee, perhaps you should spend your time trying to find out who will be doing the distribution in Madison. It’s not that far for you to drive and perhaps you could get one of the bugs that they will be passing out.
Last year I missed the distribution date but didn’t worry about it. I just watched for the bugs. They gave me an excuse to drive a little further than normal, to walk a little further than I wanted to, and of course I spent more time caching in general. And in the end…I had my share of them and am looking forward to the same thing happening this year.
MB06/14/2005 at 12:48 am #1738113Of the yellow Jeeps last year, I only found one. Didn’t really bother me — I wanted to see one in person, and when I did, then I didn’t care if I found any more.
I feel about the same about the white ones. But no big deal if I don’t find one.

Just kidding! You were at Pike Powder Hike long before I dropped my bug there…
As for the white jeeps, I agree with greyhounder. One will be enough for me…. though I’ll be driving over an hour one way just to get it!

06/14/2005 at 4:12 am #1738118I count 19 as of now. I’m guessing by tomorrow morning we will have 20.
I suspected that no matter HOW the Jeeps were distributed, not everybody would be happy, and for that I am sorry.
I know that Madison is getting a bunch, and Eau Claire is getting a bunch too. If you E-mail me, I can forward your request on to the people who are handing them out in those areas.
Also, keep in mind that these Jeeps do NOT belong to the people who are picking them up. The Jeeps that are handed out should be put in caches, so more people can find them.
06/14/2005 at 10:13 am #1738119I didn’t have coffee in my mouth at the moment, but would have come close to spraying the monitor again if I did.

Last year I discovered that the Jeeps travel bugs tags are already assigned to Groundspeak. We as Geocachers, are helping to distribute someone else’s travel bugs. They won’t be “owned” by the geocacher who is the first to hide it. I believe you may still need to activate the Jeeps, but we won’t be the owners.

I just found my first yellow jeep this spring! I was excited to find it, but I also don’t care if I find anymore, lol.
