Hi, my name is Jodi Bauer and my caching name is jodibee.  I live outside of Roberts, WI with my husband Allen, who agrees with my dad’s assessment that they both have enough hobbies and don’t need to take up geocaching!  But, they have both helped me search, and have driven me to out of the way places to cache.

I work with Scouts with Special Needs, and I started geocaching in 2010 when I was supposed to take some training, but the class was full.  I read through the other options and picked “Orienteering” and “Geocaching”.  It is amazing to realize that there’s a whole hidden world out there, right under your nose.  I was hooked right away.

My family likes to travel, and I really love finding caches in other countries.  Almost all caches take you to special spots or out of the way locations that you never would have found without Geocaching.  How else would we have found the subterranean toilets in Vienna, Austria?  Or, visited the narrowest street in Prague, Czechia?  Or, found out that the monument for the equator in Ecuador no longer runs along the equator?  Or, enjoyed the many small cemeteries scattered around Wisconsin?  I love learning bits of history and seeing what the locals think is important.

When I started geocaching, I was intimidated by puzzle caches, generally drawing a total blank on how to solve them.  Once I started doing them, I love them!  Nothing like a great AHA! moment to get the adrenalin pumping!  I also love hosting events, CITOing in our local parks, Geocaching 101 events at the library or a church, and recently, since it is tough to have an event for very many people, I’ve  started creating puzzle caches that teach newbie cachers some of the tricks and tools.

If elected to the BOD, I would like to continue with many of the great promotions and events that the WGA has orchestrated over the years.  Please contact me with any questions you have.  Thank you for the nomination!
