Hi! I am Jodi Bauer, caching name jodibee! I live in Roberts, WI, and work in Golden Valley, MN…which gives me the opportunity to do both rural and urban caching. I love to travel and explore new caching styles in new countries and regions.
I started geocaching because I work with the BSA Scouts with Special Needs. I was supposed to take training related to my role, but the class was full. So, I looked to see what other training was available. Open classes were Orienteering and Geocaching. Once I looked at a map to see that the closest geocache to my house was a cemetery…I was hooked! Cemetery caches are still my favorites.
I really love puzzles, mostly the kinds that you print out and solve. Before COVID, I used to offer Geocaching 101 classes at libraries and churches, with other cachers. Because of all the restrictions on gathering in bigger groups, I have placed a bunch of puzzle caches in my area that should really help teach people different puzzle solving techniques, and some internet sources (geocachingtoolbox.com is a fave!), to help them start to not fear that blue question mark on the map! I also enjoy putting out “grid fillers” that help people fulfill challenges, stretch themselves, and expand their horizons.
One of the things that I like most about Geocaching is that it is worldwide, family friendly, and just so fun…how entertaining is it that so many are hidden right in plain view?!?!? That is what I hope to bring to this position on the Board if I am elected. The sheer fun of Geocaching.
